Well it says that ME takes us to the airport 3 Hours before plane leaves. Our departure is at 6:30pm,Im assuming it wont take us 3hours to check in Is There places to eat nearby so I can grab my daughter something to eat?Sorry if this is a dumb question its our first time flying.

You will leave your resort 3 hours prior but you may be stopping at other resorts to pick up other guests on their way to the airport, it is then about 30 minutes to get to the airport. If you aren't flying on an airline that allows you to check in at your hotel you will then have to get in line to check in. Getting through security at MCO is never quick so you may not have a lot of time by the time you get to your gate. There are places to eat, they have fast food, deli counters and sit down restaurants.
Just be aware that your free time can vary greatly. We have has trips where we have 1 hour and a half and trips where we've only had a half hour before boarding the plane.

There is a Main food court in the Non Secure side center of Main terminal. Then there are Smaller places (McDees for one on the other side of security. I suggest you use those. What looks like a not so big line at MCO can become huge very fast for some reason.

So yes there are places to grab something and you can sit at the gate and enjoy without stress.

There is a food court (think mall food court) and after you go thru security there are more places including an Outback if you wanted a sit down meal.

Food also depends on what airline you are taking and which side of the airport you will be in. Check the MCO site, that should list the restaurants based on Terminals.

Back in December, we had an 8:30am flight out of MCO so I packed some dry cereal and nuts for us and we ate those while we waited at our gate (and I bought a bottle of water after we went through security). I was worried about having the time to purchase food, because we wanted to look through the gift shops on the nonsecure side of the airport (btw we actually picked up some last minute gifts on clearance). I was also worried about how expensive the food might be.

Once we found our gate we saw a family eating pizza for breakfast (regular pizza, not breakfast pizza!). We also saw a man with a fastfood cup. I think it was from Burger King. Thankfully, ds didn't ask for any airport food.

Honestly, when we travel I am alway so focused on getting to our gate and staying put that I don't pay attention to much else. I feel like you should be able to find something to eat there. But I would do like a pp said and purchase my food on the secure side - that way you wouldn't worry about having enough time to get through security. Sometimes we seem to wait in security forever at MCO and sometimes we zip right through, so it is not predictable at all!

ME got us to the airport so early one trip, I had time to sit down at the Macaroni Grill at MCO.

We've also had occaision to get some Chili's to go while at MCO.

There are plenty of choices in the airport (McD's, Sbarro, Nathan's, Chick Fil-A)

I love going to Nathan's when at MCO, because we don't have the fast food restaurant at home and I LOVE their hot dogs (we CAN buy those at the grocery store). I swear they have the best crinkle cut fries EVER, and I have eaten them at 9am. :rolleyes1

I remember spending a horrible amount of $$ on food at Orlando Airport and everything was terrible. EVERYTHING.

Try to eat before you leave (I know it's hard since ME makes you leave so early) but maybe do your best with snacks or something? Get some snacks "to go" from Disney!:goodvibes

I get a sandwich from the earl of sandwich to take with me. They where still hot last time, my sister and myself had the original 1 762 the kids had the ham and swiss.

I agree w/Shannon--try Nathans! You won't want any other brand of hotdogs after that.

There is a lot to eat on the nonsecure side of the terminal. Sit down restaurants- chili's, macaroni grill to name two. The food court has quite a few of your regular mall fast food chains. On the secure side- there is far less but like someone mentioned- security at MCO moves really slow for some reason (think it might be all the kids and strollers etc)/.

I also suggest that you get thru security first, then find some place to eat. There will be plenty of choices and you'll be able to relax and not have to worry about getting thru security in time.

Luckily the Orlando Airport is a great place to pass time!

Eat, shop and enjoy!

Which airline are you flying? If we know the airline, we can tell you restaurants that will be in your area.

As for the ME pick up, we are also flying out at 6:30 pm. I'm expecting the ME time to be 3:50 pm. This is based on our last trip. In Nov our flight was for 5:30 pm and ME picked us up at 2:50 pm. But this can change, it's just an estimate. I think it depends on how many other guests will be on your scheduled bus and how many stops the ME bus will make before heading to the airport. So this time is just a rough estimate. It's not always three hours before your flight. I can be more or it can be less.

MCO Airport Food:

We had Wendy's there last summer. Is that gone now? I recall super slow service and much higher prices than the other chain Wendy's locations.
We also had Burger King the year before.

It just depends on which terminal you fly out of. We fly Jet Blue and there's only McD and Sbarro in that area. I noticed in Nov they were building a Starbucks. They also have Seattle's Best Coffee.

I usually have a big lunch at WDW (buffet) then grab a pastry for the airport. Last Nov I ate a school bread in the terminal :lovestruc I'll probably grab a cinnamon roll from the Main St Bakery this time since we'll be in MK.

Unless you are using Magical Express and checking your bags and getting your boarding passes before you get on the bus, you might be surprised at how little time you actually have at the airport. We have been lucky enough to go twice in the past year. Both times we flew southwest, so we had to cart our own luggage on the ME bus and stand in line to check it. Even with ME picking us up 3 hours before the flight, by the time we checked the bags and got through security, we had very little time before we got on the plane. The 1st time we stopped and got DD McDonalds to take with us, and barely got to the gate before the plane started boarding. The 2nd time poor DDs dinner was a smoothie right by the gate.
