We love the Osceola Parkway:goodvibes
Makes it sooo easy to get where we want to go outside of WDW.

And I *think*, when we leave WDW, we always jump on the 417/Osceola Parkway, and then it is a straight run for the Boggy Creek Road/south airport access..???

Am I right?

It always seems easier getting to the airport to fly home than it does getting out of it when we arrive :)

Anyway..is there an exit off the Boggy Creek Road when LEAVING the airport to get onto the 417??

TIA!!
:)

When you're on TOLL 417, the exit you're referring to is Exit #17 which is signed as both Boggy Creek Road and Orlando International Airport. When you get off there, you can get on to Boggy Creek Road or stay on the entrance route into the south end of OIA. But you don't really use Boggy Creek Road to get into the airport.

I'm not sure how this would be any quicker than going the other way. When you leave the airport using the airport's SOUTH exit, it takes you a few miles down to TOLL 417 where you hop on to head to Disney. When going to Disney, many people get off at the SR 536/535 exit (Exit #6) which straight-on becomes EPCOT Center Blvd once you go beyond I-4. Some people remain on TOLL 417 one more exit to Osceola Parkway (Exit #3) and enter Disney that way. This does require one additional toll payment, paid as a ramp toll.

The routes are identical both ways though.

Thanks Bob :)

OK, leaving the aiport, we stay in the South Exit lane, and follow the signs for the 417? There is an on ramp, yes? Which, if we're using the 417/Parkway on our return, is Exit 17?

The reason for using this route this trip is that we have several cars traveling together. Everyone will have instructions on how to get where, but the less traffic signal lights we have to negotiate to try to stay together, the better!

417-> AKLodge just seems easier...not necessarily shorter, but easier :)

When exiting or entering the airport via 417 you are technically only on Boggy Creek Rd for a very short distance. The actual name of the road leading you into and out of the airport is call S. Access Rd.

When you get off exit 17 heading toward the airport and take a left you are on Boggy Creek Rd., the roadway splits if you go right you stay on Boggy Creek if you go to the left you are on S. Access Rd which leads you to the terminal.

When leaving the terminal area via the south exit you are on S Access Rd which merges with Boggy Creek Rd just prior to the entrance ramp for 417.

It's a little more difficult to explain than it is to actually drive it.

I agree with Bob that it is probably a little simpler to get off at exit 6, RT 536 which will lead you directly into WDW, with no turns.

417-> AKLodge just seems easier.

The access road circles the airport so no matter where you enter the circle, stay on it until you see the exit for the SOUTH EXIT. That will take you a few miles down to the ramp for southbound TOLL 417.

And yes, if you're going to AKL, exit off the 417 at Exit #3/Osceola Parkway westbound. Osceola Parkway of course ends in the AKL parking lot so you can't get lost!

Headed back to the airport, you would do exactly the opposite, using Exit #17 for the Airport. Can't miss it either. It will lead you into that circle route and then follow the signs for RENTAL CAR RETURN. There are 2 of those, one for the A side and one for the B side. It really doesn't matter which one you return your rental car to as A/B sides are in the same building and not that far of a walk.

Thanks so much!

OK, so now for extra bonus points;) , *if* we kept going straight down the Boggy Creek Road, skipping the 417 exit altogether, that eventually gets us to East Osceola Parkway, correct?

But I can't remember if that section East OP to West OP is 2 lane, or 4 lane??

Again, not going for the fastest routes, just the easiest direction wise.

Did I mention we're all directionally challenged??
Well, not me ;), just the rest of our drivers!! LOL!

Thanks again!

In my opinion that is definitely not the best way to go.
By all means you should use 417 and as KINGBOBOFTHENORTH, 417 to exit 3, take right at end of exit ramp onto W. Osceola Pkwy, and proceed on that directly to AKL.
That is by far the best route to AKL

Excellent!:thumbsup2

South Aiport Exit -> 417 WDW -> Exit 3 -> AKL

Can't get much simpler than that!!
Thanks again, so very much!

By the way, the tolls you will encounter as you head from the airport to Disney via the 417:

1)BOGGY CREEK MAINLINE TOLL PLAZA $1.25 STAFFED 24/7
2)JOHN YOUNG MAINLINE TOLL PLAZA $1.25 STAFFED 24/7
3)EXIT 3 RAMP TOLL $ .50 COINS ONLY, NOT STAFFED

:teacher::teacher:and just as a side note for Canadian DISers, don't ever throw Canadian change into the unmanned tolls...
They don't like our "oversize/overweight" coins so much :o :o

Thanks, Bob!!
