I am thinking about trying DL/DCA maybe summer 2003. I have a couple of questions:

1) What airport do most people fly into?

2) I do not want to rent a car. Are there any companies similar to Tiffany TownCars or Yourride like in Orlando?

3) At WDW, is it GREAT to stay on-site (theming, close by, etc.) Does every one feel the same about DL?

It's been quite a few years since we went, but we flew into John Wayne Airport (code SNA) and took a taxi to our hotel. I believe it was about $30 for the taxi ride. I know there are also Super Shuttles.

Is John Wayne Airport the same as Orange County?

We went last year and also flew into John Wayne - it is the closest airport to DL. We stayed at Portofino Inn & Suites. It's a long block away from the main entrance to the park. We had a rental car - so I'm not sure but I believe there is a shuttle service similar to Mears...

and we fly from Utah to Orange County/John Wayne airport. Southwest recently started to fly there as well but it is sometimes a little more money. For us the difference in the money is justified because we never rent a car. We use the Express Shuttle Service that picks us up at the airport outside baggage claim, go to the Desert Inn and Suites and then walk to DL/DCA. It costs us 80 dollars round trip for a family of 5 to go to the airport and to the hotel. We always eat inside DL because we hate to leave the "magic" and try to find somewhere to eat. We save 7 dollars a day just in parking fees plus the fee to have a car that we wouldnt use except to drive to DL and pay 7 dollars to park. We figure for the 5 of us including airfare and park hopper passes it costs us about 1500-2000 total with the hotel, shuttle, souveniers and meals. For us it is a great trip that we try to take at least once a year and sometimes twice!

We have never stayed on site but to me it is somewhat a waste of time since there are dozens of hotels within walking distance to the park. I havent been to WDW YET (november this year) but for us it doesnt make sense to pay the prices at the DL hotels when we can stay cheaper!
