Has anyone been to the airplane museum in Orlanda? I think it is called the flying tigers airplane museum. my husband is a big airplane buff and was wanting to go to this museum. Can it be done in 1/2 a day? I was thinking of going to the museum in the morning and cocoa beach in the afternoon. Could this be done. Thanks for any info:headache:

The museum is located in Davenport, about a 20-30 minute drive from WDW in the opposite direction of Cocoa Beach. Considering that Cocoa is almost two hours from there, I'm not sure that it's really doable to do both in one day.

There is also Fantasy of Flight which is located in Polk City, halfway between Orlando and Tampa. Takes about 20 minutes to drive there from Disney.

It's a pretty neat museum too.

You could easily see most of it in half a day and then continue on to the Tampa area if there was something you wanted to do there.

To Georgia, I believe. In any event, it's no longer in Kissimmee after suffering substantial hurricane damage a few years back. I'm not familiar with an airplane museum in Davenport. I'll have to look into that.

Here are the ones I know about:

Fantasy of Flight in Polk City (on the way to Tampa); the fanciest of the bunch.

Florida Air Museum, in Lakeland and kinda out of the way; devoted mostly to personal aviation.

Warbird Air Museum, in Titusville, on the way to Cocoa Beach. This one's closest in spirit to the old Flying Tigers.

White1, in Kissimmee, across from where Flying Tigers used to be. This is a small operation where you can see work in progress on the restoration of a single plane, the Weisse Eins, sorta the Swiss Army knife of the Luftwaffe during WWII.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately Charlie did the FT museum in and it shuts its doors and moved on.:sad1:

If you definitely are going to CocoaBeach then visit the nearby Titusville Warbird Museum.

Thumbs Up. If you have the time and want to skip the beach take the 25-30 mile trip down I-4 from WDW to Polk City and head to Kermit Week's Fantasy of Flight. Imho if your DH is an aviation enthusiast he won't want to miss a visit to this museum. In April they have a one of kind Mustang and Mustang Show. P-51's and Fords.

My bad, I was thinking of Fantasy of Flight in Polk City when I said Davenport.

Thank you for posting, I think we may try the Warbird Museum on our way to the beach. Great info.:goodvibes
