Hey gang,

I am looking at getting our tickets to WDW through airmiles but I want to confirm that I definitely can add days and add hopper if I want....

what's your experience?

We've done it a few times and had no problems at all. I do use them for one day before adding on or upgrading.

Great :)

Does AM send actual tickets or just vouchers?

We've done it before with no problems. We had trouble once at the disney hotel (POFQ) but I just went to EPCOT the next day and they did it with no problem. They send the actual tickets.

I upgraded my son's 7 day child Airmiles ticket in April to a 10 day PH, WP, NE ticket and we used 5 PH days in April and 1 PH day in November so have 4 PH days and 10 WP visits left on it.

In November, I upgraded my 5 day adult Airmiles ticket to a 6 day NE ticket.

They send you actual tickets as does Universal but for SeaWorld, they give you a voucher type ticket that you print off right away after ordering.

Have a great trip!

Thanks again for further confirmation :)

So do people get kids' air miles tickets to upgrade them? What is the the most economical way to do it? I would love to hear the experts' advice on this.

I'm so glad someone posted this thread because I was wondering this same thing.

I was looking at the 'Air Miles' cost of all the tickets last night and the cheapest ticket is the 5-day childs base ticket which is 1925 AM and a 5-day adult's base ticket is 2175 AM. If I got 2 adult tickets and 1 child it would cost $424.92 + tax to upgrade to a 10 day WP + PH ticket OR $252.39 + tax to upgrade to a 10 day WP OR PH ticket.

If I got 3 child tickets it would cost $473.94 + tax to upgrade to a 10 day WP + PH ticket OR $301.41 + tax to upgrade to a 10 day WP OR PH ticket. I'm definitely not get NE simply because the cost is way too high for us (over $200/ticket for a 10 day) and we are going for 16 days. If we don't use a day or two it's not a big deal but if I lost the tickets or we didn't go back, I would've spent an extra couple hundred dollars for nothing.

Personally I think getting the 5 day tickets and upgrading is the most economical both in terms of money and Air Miles. It is the cheapest ticket and spending your Air Miles to get 7 day tickets really only saves you about $50 total but costs about 75 Air Miles/ticket. Not worth it to me.

______________

215 days until our 1st family vacation to WDW!! :yay:

I've done it twice and had no issues at all. As mentioned you should enter a park at least one time before making the upgrades. This sets the ticket to current gate price not a reduced price that AM might have paid for them. You should also do the upgrading at either DTD or in-park guest relations. The resort concierge often has a difficult time getting it right.

I prefer to get the largest ticket that I can with my AM and then adding the upgrade. This year I've been power collecting and will be getting the 7 day premium ticket. I will then upgrade to the 10 day...the cost will only be around $160 for two tickets (I think...it's been a few months since I worked the numbers). These tickets will last us, probably, 3 trips.

You have to watch with Airmiles because sometimes the 7 day ticket is less Airmiles than the 3 or 5 day ticket. When I redeemed for my son's 7 day ticket - it was less Airmiles than the 3 or 5 and when I redeemed for my 5 day ticket, it was less Airmiles than the 3 day one. I just love that I can even get Disney tickets with my Airmiles - it makes my Disney vacation just so much more affordable.:cloud9:

If I had to pay for my tickets it would, for sure, put me over the budget. I really doubt we would be able to go every year if tickets had to be paid for.

I just ordered 2 tickets -- I love that the shipping was free too :)

But LOL then for a brief moment you do the math.. using the most basic point offering of $20 = 1 pt it cost me a whopping: $87,000 for 2x adult 5 day tickets :scared1::scared1::scared1: ;) ;) :)

I have the 5 day base tickets from airmile that I want to upgrade to the discounted Disney Vacation club annual pass. Has anyone done this? I am not sure if we should use the tickets first and then try to upgrade to the dvc discounted annual pass. This is so confussing. I just might buy annual passes this year and save these tickets for another year.
