Airmiles PHP and AP's

If I use Airmiles to "purchase" my PHP, can I use it to upgrade to an AP when I get to WDW?

I'll let you know in August when we go and try to do just that. My DH works at TDS and he can't see a difference in the look of the pass, but we'll see when we get there.

Yes, please post details when you get back. I've got enough Air Miles for a PHP so if I can apply it towards the purchase of an AP that would be a nice discount

Here's another thing to watch for with airmiles. We just got our last pass that we needed for our youngest, and it came via purolater as they others had. Well, I anxiously opened the package and you wouldn't believe this.... there was the pass-Hooray! ......I ordered a 7day Park Hopper (which it confirms on the accompanying letter), and looked only to find it was a 5 day Park Hopper they sent. Well, 3/4 of an hour later on the phone with airmiles, and now I had to pay to Express Post it back to them ($10.00) and they will forward me another one. Granted they did drop 50 airmiles into my account to pay for the $10.00, but it is the whole inconvenience and going to the post office, etc. and worrying that it will get to the person it is supposed to.

Be careful and look at what you get sent!!!

But logic seems to say that you should be able to upgrade.

If someone was to give you a PHP and you take it to WDW, they check it and charge you the difference for the upgrade ( I read this some where on mousesavers, I think), so what would be the difference if it's from airmiles?

You can upgrade from anything 1day tickets to 5php or 5php to 7php.....it just seems that this would be upgradable too, right?

Logically I think it should be okay. I guess the value would be whatever airmiles paid for them. My guess is they got them from AirTransat Holidays so they'd only be slighted discounted.

The PHP can be upgraded only to the PAP--right?

Therefore if I didn't want that one I'd be best to get the 5 day from airmiles and upgrade to just the AP, right?

I just checked out the airmiles site, the 5 day they are offering are also plus tickets.

Therefore if I am correct a plus hopper can only be upgraded to a PAP, does anyone know for sure if that is correct?

Since we only need the AP this wouldn't be a good idea for us, oh well!!!

Okay, I just checked Mary's site. She says an unused plus pass can be upgraded to any other not just a plus pass.

In real life if I kept asking questions and responding to them myself, people would think I'm...um a little Is the same true on an internet forum

The 5 day from airmiles is also a park hopper plus. However, I found this paragraph on mousesavers.com about upgrading.

A partially-used pass with "plus" options on it can normally only be applied to another pass that also includes "plus" options, such as a Park Hopper PLUS or a Premium Annual Pass. If you haven't used the pass at all, it normally won't matter whether it has "pluses" or not -- they'll just apply the full value to any higher-priced ticket.

So it seems the trick is not to use the pass before doing the upgrade.

Linda needs to check this out and report back immediately, I don't think I will sleep through the night until she does. (That also might have something to do with the 2 year old climbing out of her crib!)

Over on the trip planning side of the disboards Goldenoldie seems to be an expert when it come to passes and upgrading and even he/she is very unsure about this type of upgrade.


Check out this thread on upgrading reward passes, not a clear answer, but does show that there is not a set procedure for these passes.

The best bet would be to call WDW theme parks guest services and as to speak to a supervisor. And be very accurate about how the passes were earned so that you get the correct procedure/rules for upgrading this type of PH pass to an AP.

I hope the answer is an easy one, and that these passes can be exchanged up to AP's as this is what I would like to do when I get enough points.

Well I sent an email to Disney asking if it was possible and I got the party line back. "all upgrades have to be done in person, some variables determine if it can be done or not"

I guess I wasn't expecting a definite yes but I was looking for confirmation that just because it has come from this source doesn't automatically exclude it from being upgraded.

I guess we are back to waiting for Linda to try in August. I guess I could order it and then if it can't be done I will save it for another trip or there's always ebay!!

I ordered mine Wendy and they arrived via fed ex within 2 days!

The TA that booked my air is with the airmiles travel agency, I think it's exit travel. Well apparently exit travel is somehow affiliated with Air Transat Holidays. She said the wdw tkts that airmiles "sells" come from Air Transat Holidays and they are not a comp ticket. If this is true I would guess the value would be a little lower than advance purchase price but not alot and upgrading wouldn't be a problem.

I have already purchased my AP and I have the 5 day plus childs pass.....if it doesn't work out at WDW I am thinking I will just put it on ebay and apply that money towards my ds's AP.

We have an Airmiles 5-Day PHP ticket that DH will be using next week.

I can inquire about upgrading it. What exactly is it that you would like to know?

How much it costs to go from a 5 Day PHP to a 7 PHP, also to an Annual Pass?
