i recall seeing a thread started about cashing in your airmiles for a resort stay at wdw.
does anyone have more details?
how many miles are we talking here?

I haven't seen any hotels in WDW listed in the airmiles rewards. But you can buy gift card towards accomodation at Best Western's and there is a Best Western in DTD.

I did see WDW resorts shown as a reward under aeroplan, but the number of miles for 1 night is almost equal to a round-trip airfare, so I don't think it would be worth exchanging the miles for them, as you could get a discounted room via CAA for the best value.

Hope this helps :)

Grover - I was going to email you when I found this out but totally forgot to!

My sister did call about it and I believe in value season for a value resort it's around 1700 per night. Than it increases depending on the season and the resort.

You have to book at least three nights and is about 3500 airmiles for value plus you have to the hotel taxes (approx. 50.00) ! Not worth it IMHO...

when you call you need to speak to an agent at airmiles that books package vacations as they go thru Holiday House to book it.

i had inquired about booking a std room at a moderate resort (POR) for 7 nts during value season and the quote was just under 10 000 air miles. plus you have to pay $30. per person to them as a booking fee and pay the taxes (12 or 13% i think, on the total value of the room at rack rate) in cash. no refunds/no cancellations (although you can purchase cancellation insurance thru them if you had to cancel for medical reason and then could get your air miles back...)

$30 booking fee per person! That's crazy! With a family of 5, that comes to $150. which is almost the price of a moderate. No Way! I'd rather save them and get my MYW tickets. That's value.

That's actually exactly what i did instead of booking the room with them- i'm getting 2 adult MYW base tickets and 3 child base tickets for about the same amt of airmiles- much more value there and flexibility!

I was told the booking fee only applies to adults.

michelle1, yeah- that does make sense that it should only be for the adults... when the agent told me $30. per person booking fee i didn't question it or ask for more detail since i had already pretty much decided that i would use the airmiles for the MYW tickets. thanks for the clarification.

Is this something that airmiles just started or do you think it will be around for another year or so. I am going to disney aug 17th for the first time EVER :dance3: but already I am thinking maybe i can start saving my airmiles for airfare and park tickets!!! YEAH. but my points don't add up very fast I only have 600 now and I've been saving them for about 2 years! About the only place I collect points is at the liquor store and zellers.

Do you think they will still have this around for next year???

Thanks

wow..that is a royal price for a room isn't it...major airmiles!
OY!
