Considering airlines use e-tickets now I would say "no".
Disney should provide you with a airline confirmation code. Depending on the airline you're booked on you can use that code to check-in online and print your boarding passes up to 24 hours prior to your flight.

How closely have you read all your paperwork you have recieved? if the Locator number is not in the letter or other documents then call disney with your reservation number and ask them for the locator number for your flights.
If you don't want to deal with Disney, just call your airline, provide them with your names, flight number and day of travel, they should be able to give you your locator number and also tell you if you have seating. If you don't have seating yet, they can take care of it for you.
I'm not one that really OCD, but when it comes to plans, I think I am. Once I make a ressie for anything or order anything, I get very tense until I get the confirmation order. Then I re-confirm 2 or 3 times before the trip also.. I just try to make sure that my end is taken care of and I know that I have all the info I need. I would've been going bonkers about 3 days after making the ressies if I hadnt gotten confirmation about some parts.
Just ask Jo from Small World or the folks at WDW dining how bad I am about checking, double checking then checking again to make sure that I've got it.
