we are traveling during school vacation week in april 2016 from Boston. When would be a good time to start shopping for flights and for those who usually travel to MK this week from Boston what is the average you have paid for your airline tickets. Right now those that are listing pricing are around 1200 or 2 of us.....

$1200 for 2 people???? I'm flying in November and live in nj and paid $840 for 3

For our August trip flying out of EWR would have cost us $2100 for 3. We're trecking down to Philly instead and paying $1100.

As for when to book, generally 50-100 days prior to your trip and some experts claim you'll find best fares on Tuesdays.

We get ours after our budget matched the deals or three months whichever comes first.

 Holy crap! We booked 6 months out - maybe that's the key to cheaper flights? We're on Jet Blue but prices weren't that different than United other than the free checked bag.

I'm flying out of Newark and into LGA. I'm paying $374 and I got my tickets in November and my friend who bought last month is paying $500. Three months out isn't the sweet spot here.

Flying out from Boston as well April 2016!!! I'm already stressing about the airfare. We usually fly Jetblue.

I booked back in January for my November trip! That was the earliest I've ever booked airfare because it was so cheap and I knew if I waited, it would be much more expensive now (and it is!). I ended up paying $126 round trip, non-stop for myself. Paying for my seat each way and bags, It ended up being $180 total! Had I waited I'd be paying over $400 since that is what it is at now. Sometimes the earlier the better. The trip really felt official when I got that out of the way!

I usually find if I check Jetblue 6 mo out or so (when they first release the rates) they are some of the lower rates. Occasionally I get caught with having paid a higher fare, but not by a whole lot. Just keep checking-I do it daily when I'm looking to book and sometimes it changes midday!

when are you leaving and I too am waiting on jetblue prices and southwest
Well, I booked my trip for 4/15- 4/23 but will switch it a day if the flight is that much different from one day to the next. I have a $300 jet blue voucher from a trip I canceled through Jet blue so I have to fly them. When are your dates????

$1200... Yikes.. I booked out flights in late May for our September 2015 trip through Southwest (Indianapolis to MCO) and it was $524 round trip for 2 of us. Our flights are non-stop flights too.

I'm in central Mass....there are NO decent fares for April vacation!!! In fact, I was going to book a stay in late Feb...but when I checked fares, I found that late Jan was hugely cheaper...so, we're going in late Jan! And waiting until 3 months out is scary! I've never found fares to go down for this time of year. I book as soon as the window opens and find it's the only way to get somewhat decent airfare. If you can call $450 pp decent!!!

I am going in Dec and have yet to get my plane tickets. We are flying out of a very small airport due to dropping my son off at my parents house for babysitting and it works better for us to fly out of their airport rather go closer to the city. Right now they sit at 260 and I have seen lower which we are going to wait a little bit longer to see what we can get.

I'm going in January and have an alert sent daily (for the last 5 months)......nonstop hasn't budged and is sitting at over $600.
Waiting until closer and then might have to look at a stop along the way :(
