I posted this info as a comment in another thread but thought it might be worth it's own thread.

MCO now has a security service where they will expedite clearing security. It will be expanded to other airports in the coming months. Looks like it's about $80 per person/per year to belong. You can check out the details at www.flyclear.com . MCO is presently the only airport offering this program.

Looks like it's a FastPass/FOTL type of program.

I suppose if you fly a lot, it might be worthwhile- otherwise, the minor inconvenience of getting thru the TSA station isn't a big deal for most.

It is particularly useful since MCO has done away with the priority lanes for preferred status flyers. You must submit to full fingerprinting, eye scans and a background check. It is a great program so far. But it would be better if: 1) you could forgo the removal of laptops, shoes and the like; and 2) if it was accepted at all airports.

They really need to do a program similar to this at ALL (domestic) airports. My husband is a pilot yet he gets the whole security she-bang everyday. I mean if he's going to be trusted to fly the plane, he should be trusted that there's nothing in his shoes. And I should get to also since I'm his wife http://www.disboards.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Just kidding....but I really do think a nationwide program like this is a good idea.

I believe that CLEAR has been around for awhile at MCO--at least several years. When it first appeared in MCO, they stated that it would expand but I haven't seen anything showing signs of expansion.

Just to clarify - the program at MCO doesn't allow the person to skip any security checks - they go through the same metal detectors as everyone else, it just allows them to skip the line. You are less likely to be singled out for extra-special security checks if you are in the program, however. But your shoes are comming off just like everybody else.
