I just heard on the news that airlines are giving refunds through 9/25. Whats the reason? Will it take that long to get the planes flying to full capacity? Or because of the fear of flying? I need to decide by 9/29. Any help you can give? Should I be contacting the resort? and the school?

Only you can decide how afraid you are.

Check other airports to see if their flight schedules to Orlando have stabilized. Ask your airline if your ticket can be modified to use that airport instead at no charge.

Disney has already been giving resort refunds due to airline cancellations, so you don't have to give Disney advance notice if you find that flight schedules have not crystallized by 9/29 and your flight did not get reinstated.

Consider going by bus or train.

What school? If you already pulled the kids out of school, just have them report back to class if you chickened out of your/their Disney vacation.

many people are so fearful to get on an aircraft right now...and it will continue to be that way as long as the media runs it into the ground. they are going over and over it so much that its making people scared beyond belief.

The Media is going way overboard with the spectulations....reiterating everything, in case you missed it the first five times. No wonder people are panicking. I have stopped watching, except for a few minutes a day.

It may be that they still have Tuesday's passengers right where they left them. My parents were stranded in Indianapolis on tuesday and no thanks to United they finally made it home today (SUNDAY). The airlines told them all week in the morning, then told them in the afternoon, then started all over and told them in the morning. Until things get back to normal I wouldn't go anywhere on a plane without alot of extra money for food and hotels in the case that you get stranded somewhere.6 nights in a town where you spend all your time at the airport gets expensive. If you do don't just trust your airline to get you home. Delta finally got my parents home, and they even honored their United ticket.

"Shoulda" tried to get a confirmed reservations for something instead of standbying in the airport all those days. Then sightseed for the "coupla" days in between. Actually checking out of the expensive downtown hotel immediately and going to the airport once up front is a good idea because there is usually a little board (typically near the baggage carousels) with inexpensive motels pictured and a phone handset and some push buttons down below to call them.
