When you fly, do you have to take your actual prescription bottle with the info on it or can you just fill up a week supply in those little m-f containers? I need my thyroid meds but don't want to take the actual bottles with me.

If they are pills then I don't think you need to worry about it but the TSA site does say to have the original bottle w/you. I think it matters a great deal more if it's in liquid form though.

I've taken my meds in the pill box before with no problem. Keep them in your carryon, not in your checked luggage. If you have liquid meds, they will need to be in the original container.

You might ask your pharmacist for either a smaller bottle with your prescription on it, or a copy of your prescription that you can carry with the M-F container.

You are required, technically to have the original bottle or script with you. I generally bring the bottle but with enough pills to cover the trip and two extra days, just in case and leave the rest home.

This came up once when DH and I were watching TV. He said the same as above. I know lots of people have their meds in other containers, but I wouldn't risk it.

My DD is on a liquid med and takes daily injections. The med has to be refrigerated. How can I swing that? It comes in tiny 2 oz viles. :confused3 And because it costs $2,000 per vile, there is no way I am checking it.

Good question. I would think they would HAVE to make some sort of exception for this. Sounds like you are definately going to have to contact TSA for what to do. The vial size is fine, it's the refrigeration part..........good luck.

This is from TSA.gov Travelers with Disabilities and Medical Conditions page linked HERE:

TSA's checkpoint security screening procedures for persons with disabilities and medical conditions have not changed as a result of the current threat situation. All disability-related equipment, aids, and devices continue to be allowed through security checkpoints once cleared through screening.

Additionally, we are continuing to permit prescription liquid medications and other liquids needed by persons with disabilities and medical conditions. This includes:

All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including KY jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;

Liquids including water, juice, or liquid nutrition or gels for passengers with a disability or medical condition;

Life-support and life-sustaining liquids such as bone marrow, blood products, and transplant organs;

Items used to augment the body for medical or cosmetic reasons such as mastectomy products, prosthetic breasts, bras or shells containing gels, saline solution, or other liquids;

and,Gels or frozen liquids needed to cool disability or medically related items used by persons with disabilities or medical conditions.

In addition you might look into a cold pack that you soak in water to activate it and it is supposed to stay cold for days. This is one side I found doing a quick search: http://www.friouk.com/
