Hi Everyone,
Just had the NEED to tell my li'l story about my December trip to Disney, (WL).
I booked my flight and trip 6/9/01. My flight from Orlando to home was to leave @ 5:15pm on Dec. 14th, to return to Alantic City Airport in NJ. After Sept 11th, I waited 2-1/2 weeks to call the airport to verify my reservations and was told my return flight home time had been changed to 6:30pm. Well I went to the Spirit Airline website on Friday to see what flights were avaible so that my son and his friend could join us on the trip, and saw that my flight wasn't even listed!!! I called the airline and was told my departure flight was @ 10:30am!!!! This ruined my last day @ Disney! So, I had to add a day to my trip, which cost me another $186.00! I just hope they don't change my flight AGAIN!!!
Any questions, e-mail me @ KathyMV01@aol.com

Hi Kathy,

Wanted to let you know that we are in the same position as your family, but we are leaving Friday 11/2 and were to return Thursday 11/8, flying Spirit out of AC. (We booked 1/31/01). I did not know the flight was changed from 5:15 pm to 6:30 pm until I went on their web site to look at my flights. Then we got the call that the flight home was canceled and we were now booked to go home on 11/8 at 10:30 am. We had also counted on having that day and ended up adding an extra day, changing the flight until 11/9. (Do you think Disney made a deal with Spirit to get folks to add a day?)

With all the anxiety, we're just happy to be going and that our flight down wasn't canceled (yet!) Here's hoping the airlines are through with schedule changes! Have a great trip in December! We love that time of year, with all the Christmas decorations and, who knows, maybe ee and e-night will be back by then.

Alot of people are having these problems. A few people from our party had their flight changed and were going to be stuck in Atlanta for 4 hours between flights. I called the airline and told them that was a major inconvenience and got them scheduled on a later flight out of MCO. They'll be arriving home on the same flight they would have been on had they taken the flight with the long layover. I understand from the Transportation Board that quite a few people are getting their flights changed with no change fees because of all the cancellations. Don't assume that just because they rebooked you on another flight that that's what you're stuck with. Check their website for alternate flights and tell them you'd rather be on whichever one works best for you.

Dear Psm,
Isnt it funny that our times are almost the same?
What I don't get is that they also screwed me up in May of this year when I went to Disney and stayed at the AKL? Most people don't even know that this airport exists!!! They should do A BETTER job when it comes to booking flights, since they don't have many people flying out of their airport. Most people even from NJ don't know this airline exists.
They better not screw my trip up again!!!!!

My December return flight was changed too. Instead of flying home to Indy direct (about 2 hours), now I have to fly to BALTIMORE and change planes, then fly to Indy. I have to leave three hours earlier and get home and hour later. Southwest didn't call and tell me. I discovered it when I was checking to see if DD could get on the same flight.

This is more of a Transportation Board thread, so I'm going to move it over there. Several travel pros frequent that board and might be able to add suggestions.

Hello everyone....

I know all too well the downfalls of Spirit arrilines out of AC. I worked in a large corporation and many business associates would fly Spirit. It was great until they started cancelling flights , delaying etc.... Unfortunately, since it is a small airline out of a small airport they make their flights according to how many people are fllying. If there are not enough people to fill the plane up to the capacity needed to make a profit...then they cancel and move around flights in order to get the most people on one flight. In any case... just keep checking as they are also known for changing things last min. I hope you all have a great trip.... Ill be there in Dec myself and would have been flying spirit as well but I have since moved to PA.

you should have been able to change your flight with no penalty as it was their schedule change that inconvenienced you. you can always get a refund from them and try another carrier.

Ask for a refund of the change fee.

If they cancel your flight it is your choice to take a replacement flight earlier or later (it is their choice as to how much earlier or how much later, but if you succeed in getting a nice second choice flight with a change fee or fare increase, they owe that flight to you without the change fee or fare increase.).

That's the problem with taking a small carrier out of a small regional airport. The flights are very limited.

If you are willing to take this type of risk, then keep flying them. If you want to expand your options, you'll need to use a larger carrier and another airport. PHL is only about an hour from you.

Hi everyone!
Happy Halloween!!!
cdrnl, I was NEVER called about my flight time change. I called after 9/11 to confirm that I still had a reservation, and found that they had changed the time. The second time that they changed the time I had been on their internet site and saw my flight wasn't listed, so I CALLED THEM!! That is twice that they changed my flight time and didn't inform me! By the way, I don't know if it matters or not, but it is an eletronical ticket(s), not a paper ticket(s).
Should I insist on a paper ticket at this point????

all I can say is I would never fly spirit airlines. demand a refund and fly someone else. you could be out of everything if they soon go belly up. but this is my advice and opinion.
