Has this happened to anyone else? I called on Saturday to see if they had airline discounts out yet. They did and I made a ressie. But now instead of showing DH's ID, they want his company to fax a letter within 14 days on company letterhead with his name, date of hire, is he in good standing, ressie number etc. The CM this was the new policy. The discount was about 40%. I am hoping to get a AP closer to our October rate but boy was this a shocker. CM was pretty nice but I just had a yucky feeling. Any other experiences?

Why would Disney need to know if your husband is in good standing at his place of employment? I'm confused. Did they give you a reason for this requirement?

I'm not shocked. People lie about being entitled to discounts all the time and go in hoping that the CM at checkout doesn't check ID. :D It happens with AP discounts a lot.

No they didn't say why. I'm actually thinking of calling back this afternoon to see why?

I'm confused. Your husband is not an airline employee?

Sorry to confuse you. Yes he works for United. As a matter of fact they had in their records the last time we used the airline discount. He usually just brings his ID issued by the airport/airline and as a matter of fact they didn't even ask for it when we checked in last time. We are actually really careful with it because of increased security you get a pretty hefty fine if you lose it.

:D They probaly just want to make sure he's a current employee. I don't think they'd make you go through all that trouble if they didn't have a problem with people trying to scam a discount.

Luckily I'm not fined every time I lose my ID from work. :hyper:

We booked our ressies using the airline employee discount. The CM did not ask any questions about my employment, but I do expect to show I.D. at check in. I would call again and see what the CM says this time.

I'm also waiting for the AP codes to come out. We are goint to WDW in May and hope they have codes for this time period. I'm curious if the codes are better rates than the airline discount. Has anyone compared the rates in the past?

Good luck S@K's mom. Let us know what happens.

Thanks guys for the answers. I'm going to give them a call when I get home from work just for devilment to see what another CM says. I'll let you know.

Just another FYI. I called and talked to a very nice CM yesterday. Of course the first thing I did was change hotels (one of the many times I'm sure I'll do that). She gave me a discount and then I asked her was there anything else I had to do. She then told me that yes I would have to have my husbands company send a letter on letterhead and have the ID with me when we check in. Which considering I'm getting a little more than 40% off a room I don't mind.

:D Wow good deal.

My husband works for the airline too. We did have to fax in our good standing information on letterhead. We did it last week and got the discount had no problem. Just have your husband go to the Human Resource dept and they will have the form ready to go.

thank you guys for all your responses. It really is a very good discount. Anything to get to WDW!!!!!!!!!!!
