Is this option available for people who are not using ME? I'm flying Southwest and have a late flight. I rather not tote my luggage around if I can help it.

Yes, you can still use the Resort Airline Check In even if you're not using DME :)

The checkin hours are 5 AM til 12 Noon. You need to bring your luggage to the desk during those hours.

You might want to double check if they will accept your Southwest bags - depending on when your flight is, it might be too early (I know Southwest is pretty strict about how early bags can be checked in.)

If the time difference is too great, just store your luggage with bell services. (Or in your rental car...not sure how you're getting to the airport if not using DME.)

The time of your flight is not an issue. You can check your bags for a flight later that day no matter what time the flight is. I've done it many times. Checked bags st 9am for a 9pm flight.

With Southwest? Interesting as at the airport they don't allow it more than 4 hours ahead of flight time.

Bags must be checked AT LEAST 3 hours befrore your flight.:)

(And remember to tip RAC just as you would Curbside Check In at the airport.)

As far as I know allairlines have that restriction when we are checking them at an airport ourselves. But with RAC it's a different set of rules.

Yes :) We were boarding DME last trip with a family who cut it too close with RAC and were not able to check their bags. According to the Mom who was sharing her story with anyone and everyone in earshot they were in line with "plenty of time" (apparently not) but by the time they got to the front it was too late. The CM said the computer system won't even let them check bags after the 3 hour time frame!

So yes you can use RAC without using DME, you can use RAC more than 4 hours in advance (even with SWA) but don't cut it too close.

OT - but if you are using DME and have bags stored with bell services make sure to allow extra time to retrieve them and be at the bus stop at least 1 minutes prior to your DME pick up time. The buses are tightly scheduled and will not wait for late passengers - and you can't count on a next bus as you never know how long that would be.

Finally yes -please tip RAC if you use it and if you don't then please consider tipping your DME driver for handing your bags ~

Last month I checked my bags around 7:30am. I had a 6pm Southwest flight that evening. No issue at all.
As already noted, you must be walking away from the RAC counter no less then 3 hrs prior to flight departure. Be sure to leave plenty of time to check bags. Also be sure to be back at the DME bus stop at least 15 mins prior to the stated pick up time.
