I totally agree that the timing is the key.
Not sure why that one year, we were leaving so early. I think the flight was at 8 something in the morning. The problem was I had not calculated in the fact that using Magical Express and allowing time to arrive at the airport, we had to get going much much earlier.
Very bad planning on my part. You live and learn.
So now we usually do a park on the day we are leaving. Check the bags and we are free!
The other preference would be a late breakfast after checking the bags and then heading to the airport minus the park that day.
Disney gifted me with 4 park hopper tickets after the fiasco with the airlines check in people one year. It was early and the service was not working properly. A computer issue. The bag was taken from my room, but no help once we landed in the lobby.
I have since learned to travel very light.
You only need to tip bell service when they take your bag from your room to the lobby, not the airlines check in desk.
It is a great service and has always worked without a hitch for us. Love Magical Express as well.
This year I am doing non stop flights w/SW and we arrive at 4 in the afternoon. Did not want to have to be up at the crack of dawn to get to the airport.
For those who can do it, more power to you!! Our departure is at almost 8pm. So plenty of time to spend our last day in a park before we head out.
