Hi guys

Just wondering if there is anyone out there that may be able to give me a guide as to airfares they have paid or come across for late June to Orlando or even Los Angeles.

I'm looking at planning a trip for late June next year. I don't want to go ahead and book a cruise until I know if the airfare is doable. Of course being 14months out, the only guide I can get is for this June. Being only 2 months out I'm only able to get the highest prices. I'm hoping there may be something better booking further ahead. I know its going to be high because of the time of the year but I'm hoping for something under $3000 per person whereas I'm only getting mid $4000 for this year.

Thanks

PrincessBelle - It's been ages since I've looked at travel to the US in mid/late-June. I would say $4K is really at the very top peak pricing for this period.

The last time I looked for June travel was in 2007 and I think I paid $2K for return tickets MEL to West Coast. That was pre-GFC; and I bought them about 3 months prior to my travel period.

Someone else is probably going to have more recent information on pricing. However, I would suggest that you wait till November this year and/or January next year to see what deals the airlines offer for your June travel period. I'm sure you already know this....be prepared to jump early when you see a price you're prepared to pay.

ps. If there are no cancellation charges associated with your cruise, it may be prudent to book it so that you get the room category you want. You can then cancel at a later stage if you need to; assuming no penalty charges.

We went June / July in 2010 with ( mel-lax) qantas , in school holidays, and paid $1100 pp ( less for our kids). It's a bit pricier than other times of year but just try and wait for a good virgin or qantas sale at around $1200pp mark IMHO. Think I got our fares in march/April though.

Wow thats impressive. I'd be happy with that. Gosh, I'd be happy if I could keep it under $2000 per person. Anything more than that puts it out of range. Sounds promising though. I really want to book the cruise. It went up $200 just this morning within about two hours.

We went last year end of may/start of June & paid $2146 per adult to fly adel-lax then Vancouver-adelaide

Yes, its high isnt it. We are looking at a DCL cruise so I think we've got until 90days out to cancel. If I could keep it to the $2000 or less, I'd be really happy. Last time we used our QF Points so was 2009 that we last paid for flights and that was in September, so not much of a guide really.

I've been watching the airfares for several years because Mrs Banks (aka blog link below) has to be in Orlando for a conference in the last week of June 2014.

I really have been only watching Qantas. (i bet other airlines are not as expensive) The high price will kick in around the mid Monday in June (the 17th for this year) and the price will rise by $800p.p.
there is a sale price available on Qantas SYD-LAX rtn now which is $1300 up to 16 June then $2100 until and incl 30 June. Peak period of $2700 starts 1 July.
SYD-DFW does the same dates and pattern - just $200 p.p. more expensive for every fare.
I've been watching this pattern since i went in 2009. However, the price changes every year - usually inching upwards! I, too, got the $1100 airfare in 2010 flying out on the Saturday before the increase.

I first noticed a sale with these prices covering June 2013 was launched in Feb this year.

We are hoping that the same pattern continues in 2014 - with Monday 16 June 2014 being the fare increase day.

We worked out that it will cost us the same to fly out on the 15th and have an extra 6 days in our holiday than if we waited and then had to pay the higher airfare. :teacher:
We would rather spend our money on Disney hotels than on airfares! :rotfl2:

We are travelling with V Australia- premium economy on the 31st may from BNE to Salt Lake City returning on 23rd June from LAX - BNE for $2923 per person :)

We are flying to LA on June 27th with virgin and we paid $1200 each, we booked through virgin in September last year. My friend is joining us and booked on the same flights in February and paid $1900. We are currently looking at prices for my daughter to join us and the fare to get her on our flights is currently $2900.
Good Luck. :thumbsup2
