Still haven't booked my Florida trip for next month, 'cause I have been waiting for the airfares to come down...well, they've gone up! Almost $3000 for our family of 5 on JetBLue...that's non-stop, but still!

Anyone else experiencing this? :headache:

Can you fly on SWA? We're flying from ISP-MCO 10/20-10/27 the total for 5 of us is $574.

Yikes, not that bad. I'm trying to get airfare to LAX (or vicinity) in January and the lowest is over $300pp.

Agree with the above poster (#2) - if you can hop up to Manchester you can fly Southwest - we never fly anyone else and always get a good deal (we're also a family of 5!)

I know. We are booked for American airlines for our trip in March. I can't believe what we had to pay!!!!

We needed BDL to FLL for a cruise on the last week of college break. I spent more than I wanted to for 4 of us. $360 or so pp. Last week, DS#3, who was supposed to be going to Morocco and Spain (college trip) found out that the trip has to be postponed until May. I am a "contingency planner",( I always have plan B, don't know why) so when I booked the cruise, I booked two cabins that can be triples. Glad I did. I ended up paying $424 for his air, the cheapest was the same as we have, down on USAIR back on Delta and I had to search for it. We got ours on Orbitz, his on Expedia. Southwest air did not have those dates available when I felt I needed to book. As it turned out, the Orbitz/Expedia purchase was cheaper.

I hear ya! We are heading to WDW over Thanksgiving. You should see those prices! We ended up getting nonstop from Baltimore to Orlando for $335 each. The more I read the better I feel we got an "okay" rate. These are through Southwest. We almost waited and I am glad we didn't, especially for Thanksgiving.

Airfares are pretty crazy. We do a lot of "what the heck, the airfare is cheap," trips to various destinations whenever we all manage to have a long weekend, and there's been nothing decent lately. Even Ding fares have been very disappointing.

Wow, we must have gotten super lucky! We just got our tickets 6 days ago because we were actually waiting for airfare to go up for our trip in 15 days because my dad had a companion fare for AA that he wanted to use, but it kept going down instead. Both of us are flying from STL to MCO non stop round trip for a total of $338, including all of the taxes.

I hope everyone else can find some decent airfares! :wizard:

The airfares I'm seeing are also hugely variable ... I just booked Orlando for next March for $174 from Newark. It's the best price I've gotten in a while.

All my family is in Florida now, so I go for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. I was able to get a decent fare for DN a couple weeks ago-$220 round trip from Newark to Orlando-12/16-12-27 on JetBlue. I had booked myself on the same flight in the Spring and my seat was $200. Waiting for her to get her finals schedule from Kent State cost us $20!! :lmao:

I usually book my flights in the Spring, and I travel around the big days. For Thanksgiving, I leave the Sunday before and come back the Tuesday after-that gets me a lower fare. For Christmas, I come back before New Year's which helps too.

Or if Manchester doesn't work out, there's always Providence or Hartford.

Good luck!

I checked last week what it would cost my family of 6 to fly to Florida for christmas. $12500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ack! that is horrible. I hope you do not have Disneyitis too often!

We paid 886.00 each to fly DH to MN for his mayo surgery. part of that was workmen's comp.'s fault for waiting so long but that was a lot of $$.

Thank God we have Allegiant to Orlando or we'd be paying a lot for the Disneyitis trips. Because they fly into Sanford instead of MCO, the cost of Delta etc. has not done anything but steadily climb. So, we're all picking Allegient in hopes they'll stay in Knoxville.

Well, needless to say our first family trip to WDW in 2003 was supposed to be a "once in a lifetime" trip. However, we´ve been to DL, DLP and WDW since then. On average the round trip from Iceland to Sanford in $850 per person.

Can get London, England to Orlando for $590 at the moment in the sales for Jan and Feb! Oct is about $650 bar the mid 2 weeks as that is school vacation.

Claire ;)

I love Jetblue and flying out of Boston but I got some GREAT flights out of Manchester on Southwest. Dh and I round trip for $230.00 non-stop.

I am trying to get tickets from Ca to NYC for the week before Christmas. EEK. I am going to end up paying alot. But I won't fly Southwest for any flight over an hour. Too few amenities for me.

I just had to book tickets from Fort Lauderdale to Providence or Boston for a weekend wedding in October. Southwest $230 each was the best I could do. We have N/S going up I have a layover in MCO on the way home in November ... oh well.

Now we need to look at Christmas tickets! At least I have the flexibility to fly anytime so that brings the cost down a little.

I can't book Hartford or Manchester b/c I usually get picked up by my dad and they live on the Cape! I can check out of West Palm though since it's not too far.

I'm booking our flights next weekend (London to LAX next August). The cheapest I have found (non stop - the flight is 11 hours as it is!) is $3100 for 2 of us!
