We are taking our first trip in Sept does anyone have any tips for the best airfare prices out of Portland/Bango also what timeframe should I book?

We just booked with allegiant air and we paid $671 US for three of us...Allegiant flies into Sanford airport though... Have nevr flown allegiant before so hopefully evrything will go well. This is a charter so all flights are direct which is a bonus.

Hello! Im in Moncton. We drove to Portland Maine for our DW trip in Dec. We flew Air Tran. No complaints. $750 before the extras (bagage, reserved seats). Besides that all was fine. Had our flight canceled coming home because of a storm in Portland, they gave us a great phn number and we got a great discount on a nearby Best Western for the night and away we went the next day.
I am big on crunching numbers, the cost to drive us 4 down and up would have costed us more than these 4 seats and our gas and stay. Also, Bangor doesn't offer as many airlines, they have been pulling out of there unfortunately. ANd to fly out of Moncton or even Halifax is just insane cost wise.
Take into cosideration the USD though and compare. A great website is kayak.com. They do a broad range of cost comparissons for you.

I would also be interested in this. DH and I are flying Nov 29-Dec 6 and are trying to find some good airfare deals from either Portland or Bangor.

I fly that time, Nov 28/08 and came back Dec 29/08. I flew Jetblue for $99 down and $104 coming back. I booke them as soon as thye were released. For that time period, I recommend doing so....

These are out of Portland.

This trip I am again Flying Jetblue and bought my tickets just 3 weeks ago. This is out of Portland going to Orlando.

I have two trips planned :

First one booked is from Feb 25-March 5/09

Second is from Dec 4-Dec 28/09. This one is not booked. Jetblue usually doesn't realize their flights for Nov/Dec until mid- May or June. Book as soon as they come out...

This short vacation, we are staying offsite at Fun Spot Fountain Hotel. Got this for $149 US plus tx for the week. This is with limited housekeeping (Twice a week) and I get fresh towels or bedding as needed. I could have paid $68 per night and got full housekeeping , but for $149 for the week, I'll make my own bed!!!!

Will let people know what the hotel is like.....

Jetblue isn't going out as far as our trip yet but it is close so I will check over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for all the tips!!!

We live in fredericton and drive to portland. We booked in Nov. for a trip in May. 6 return trips 1512.00 cdn. with united. 3 weeks later same tickets would have cost us 2900.00 They have come back down considerably since.
