I'M LOOKING FOR FLIGHTS OUT OF NEW YORK AREA TO ORLANDO IN NOVEMBER. THE PRICES I AM GETTING ARE OUTRAGEOUS. ANY SUGGESTIONS?:hourglass :hourglass

I cancelled the trip I had planned for AKV:( I just couldn't bear to pay over 1000 dollars for airfare, even with southwest:eek:

Not sure when in November you're looking. If around Thanksgiving, good luck. I just booked air last night from Newark to Orlando on Continental in mid-November for $150 pp taxes included. Do you have access to any of the smaller airports that may have charters?

Why not drive? We live in CT and choose to drive for most of our WDW/DCL trips. It costs us about 1/2 the amount of flying, plus we have our car with us in Florida. For our November trip airfare would have been about $800 for the 4 of us. Add to that a rental car in FL or DCL transfers and we're closingi n on $1000. By driving it will cost us about $500 total.

I know driving isn't for everyone, but it's a pretty straight shot and a fairly easy drive. We usually leave at 2am and drive straight through, arriving around 10pm so it's about 20 hours door-to-door. You could break it up into two days if you wanted to...we just like to go until we get there.

Just a suggestion.

We booked airfare with airmiles, because I didn't want to take the chance of high prices (9 of us, going around Jersey week) - I remember how high they were at this time last year. Good luck!

Driving is definitely the cheapest way to go. We've done it several times, but don't do it during the school year when the kids are already missing enough school. Try Southwest out of Islip. They have several flights to Orlando a day.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

Try JetBlue, they have great prices.

You can fly into the Sanford airport, (about 1 hour drive to Disney) or fly into Tampa (90 minutes to Disney)

Yep totally understand!!! We're looking at flights from Atlanta to Orlando for our april cruise. $528 for a 50 minute flight, now that's just plain crazy. The only skymiles flights are 50,000 points which in my opinion isn't worth it either. I'm crossing my fingers that airtran has a sale out of atlanta between now and then. If not we'll be driving all night which dh and I hate doing!

Have you priced flights from Stewart International Airport? It's our local airport and has been expanding rapidly. Its a great airport and much easier to fly from than any of the city airports. I don't know where in the City you live, but it shouldn't be more than an hour and a half drive.

My sister recently flew to Atlanta. She lives close to Newark but couldn't get a decent rate from any of the Metro airports. When she tried Stewart, it was much cheaper. (Plus, we kept her car at our house which eliminated parking fees.) Sorry, I only offer this service for relatives. ;)

When in Nov are you going? I got an email from AirTran. They are having a great sale through mid-Nov. If you're going around Thanksgiving, chances are you won't get a "deal" as it's one of the busiest travel times of the year.

Try White Plains (HPN). AirTran & Jet Blue fly direct to FL. Maybe if you're willing to drive a little, you'd get a better rate out of Philly, Hartford, etc.

Good luck,

I feel your pain.....

Same issues right now for March trip!!!!! I sure hope the pricing goes down.
