Airfare through Disney?

So far, I've been searching airfare on almost every website I can find. The cheapest for us is through Air Tran. Disney is offering the same rate I can find anywhere else.

Is it just as good to book the air through Disney and have all of our reservations made at once, or should we get our own air?

I always get my own air...but it really doesnt matter. I bought air tran flights yesterday andd booked myself. I still had to call disney to add the flights to our trip so we could schedule the magical express......so either way it doesnt matter.

I also found airfare to be the same on Disney as well as individual sites. I ended booking through Disney just in case I need to cancel the trip and use the insurance. This way its all on one record rather than filing multiple claims. The rep at Disney did assure me that air booked outside of their reservations are covered on the insurance. Thought as long as it is the same price its easier.

Airtran is famous for dropping their prices or changing flight times so that they no longer work with your schedule. I would recommend booking it separately in the event that does happen so you can adjust your flights without have to go through Disney.:thumbsup2

Thanks. AirTran was the cheapest, however we just found out that Southwest has similar flights (times we want) for $100 more but we don't have to pay for our luggage with SOuthwest. I'm wondering if Disney will be able to book us with Southwest???

All of the sites (Expedia, cheapair, etc) never offer Southwest. I wonder why?

You can only book Southwest through Southwest. They even had commercials promoting that fact recently. It's probably cheaper for them to do it that way.

well with us, we will be putting the kids on the school bus(my mom will have them) and going down mid morning(just dh and I). even with luggage, AT is still cheaper than SW. That being said, last time we went with all 5 of us, they changedd our returning flight by 5 minutes.. yep a whole 5 min. If its more convenient for you to do SW I say do it....

Southwest was $120 more then Air Tran but with paying for baggage with Air Tran, the cost would be the same.

Thanks for the tip with Air Tran.

I would not book the airfare with my resort reservation. I have read multiple people having issues changing their hotel reservations to apply FD or resort discounts. My 2 cents worth.

Don't do it. If prices go down and you book through Disney, you will not get any credit/discount. If you book through Airtran you can get a credit, that could go to a future flight, luggage, seat assisgnments...

I know this from experience and an hour of my life I will never get back.

Thanks so much for the information. We are planning to book through Southwest in just a little bit.

We booked through Disney last year with Air Tran. Our return flight was changed to a much earlier flight, which meant we had no time to spend doing anything on our last day. Also put us home right at rush hour on a Friday.

This year I booked directly with Southwest, which I prefer. With the baggage fees, AT was more expensive.

In the past, we have found airfare through Disney to be higher than purchasing direct.

I booked my air for our upcoming trip for Labor Day thru Disney. For whatever reason, it was $60 cheaper than booking with Airtran direct.
