Airfare Questions

I have found airfare for what I think is a fairly reasonalbe price for our November trip. My question is, if it is reasonalbe now, will it be cheaper the nearer it gets to our departure date? Should I buy the tickets now or wait to see if the prices go down? I don't buy a lot of airfare and I'm not real sure of the markets, but I have heard that you can sometimes buy tickets really cheap the week or so before you depart because they want to sell unbooked seats. Would someone who knows more about this than I do help me out?

If you found a reasonable priced airfare for Nov. I would jump on it!!

As that is a holiday month airfares will increase as the time gets closer and seats get filled!!

Airfares Change hourly in a day so when you see a price you like that matches your budget BUY IT!!

Waiting only causes more stress.

I agree! If you lock in now, and you are pleased with the price, you won. If you wait, it can only cause alot of grief and make things stressful. Airfare can always go up or down, but if you like the itinerary, buy it now. If the price goes down prior to your flight, you can always call the airline and see if they offer refunds for the difference.

I see you are from the midwest, if you are near an airport served by a low cost airline like southwest and have a rate any where near or under $200 round trip then you are doing well and should probably lock in the fare unless you really like to gamble.

I would also buy now, especially if it's the flight times you are happy with. I booked our air in February, for our upcoming early December trip. I paid $216.50 for the first flight down and the last flight home, non-stop. The price has gone up to $334.50 and hasn't gone down since about a week after I booked! I could NEVER wait until a week or two before we are leaving to book my air! I would have a nervous breakdown worrying!

Right now Southwest has a special going for $59.99 one way out of Indianapolis and I see you live in Indy.
I was thinking about flying out of Indy instead of Midway myself for my October trip. The drive for us would be about 3 hours to Indy and it would save us around $160.00 for my family.

What is the return ticket price on Southwest? Does that include all fees or not? I never found that price, even on the Southwest web site. The price I found on expedia.com was $136 round trip from Indy to MCO and that includes all fees, etc.

I just did! It cost me $546 for four of us. My oldest son will be flying from Fort Hood, Texas. His ticket is going to cost a little more. I am still waiting for him to get me information on a possible military discount. But since I have to book his ticket separately anyway it doesn't matter.

I want a $136.00 fare.......that's great. I live near Dayton and briefly considered driving to Indy. But I don't think so. 1 1/2 each way......

Each way is $59... so with tax and other fees the price comes out to $139.00 round trip on South West
