Airfare over the holidays

I knew Christmas/New Years would be pricey but holy hockeysticks..I just need book one way coming home from MCO to Winnipeg on Jan 3 and right now it is over 600.00....ONE WAY! So 1200.00 for the both us..owch.
Do I have any hope for a seat sale??

We're flying to Orlando the week of Thanksgiving. I bought our tickets about 2 months ago when they were about $420 each round trip (United).

Today they are $660 each round trip. I think the closer it gets to the holidays they will only keep going up.

I use Yapta to watch flight prices. The minute they went down in the slightest I snatched them up. I love that website.

Yeah, there is no "magic" to buying airfare over Christmas, either, it will simply cost more. In my experience with United (mostly) the best you'll get is a week or two after the dates become available and will cost about 50% more than other less busy times. Sometimes you can do a bit better by flying on Dec 25 or Jan 1. Your mileage may vary...

We lucked out this past xmas and flew Flint, Mi to Tampa $102 each way non stop. Total for 4 was $816 plus EBCI. We flew Dec 23 and home Jan 2nd.

I feel your pain, to fly my DD home from University, Edmonton to Toronto Dec 21 return Jan 2nd 900.00! I have grabbed some cheap flights out of Buffalo over the Holidays to MCO. Have to be prepared for delays and cancellations due to bad weather in Buffalo.

we can't fly out of the usa for this trip..so that option is out
