I was wondering what the going rate around town for airfare is?? We are going for a week in October and the flights are running around $260pp out of Detroit. A little cheaper to fly into Tampa $230pp. Not sure if this is a good price or should I wait to see if it goes down??

What are you all paying?

I just paid $263 for my tix from Grand Rapids to Orlando. on Delta w/ 1 connection each way. Best price from Detroit was $287 for a direct flight.

224.00 RT from Columbus Ohio to Orlando, Round trip, Direct Flights. Flying Airtran

:) Non stop New Orleans to Orlando 2 weeks ago was $132 each way, then our Oct tickets were $152 each way. Then have gone as high as $218 for some flights

Oct tickets for BIL non stop from Birmingham $100 down ($96 yesterday) and $133 back through New Orleans. Return flight now running around $155 now.

All flights on SW so no baggage fees and we always get EBCI so add $10 per person per flight --well worth it to us.

We're going flying out of Toledo into Sanford (the other Orlando airport) on Allegiant in October, the flights are around $80 each way direct right now but they usually have sales around 4th July so I am waiting for that to book. We usually fly out of Detroit too so we can use ME out of MCO but I can't imagine paying an extra $100+ a person with terrible flight times.

:) I would love to fly Alligient but they fly only certain days of the week here. $80 is awesome and I would jump on it....so I hope you get your tickets at an even better price and have a great trip. :cloud9:

chgo/ord to mco end of sept.
7 weeks ago the flight i wanted was $167 RT. (non stop)
thought it might drop so didn't buy until 2 weeks ago.
i ended up paying $257 RT.....................:headache:

i prefer to leave chgo early morning and return home in the evening.
if i would have chosen an earlier return flight, the fare would have been $202.
flying United.

Wow you guys have it good! We paid just under $600 rt from Edmonton to Orlando with a stop in Houston. This is the cheapest we have seen in months

I would wait. SWA should be having their annual sale soon and you can get some great flight prices.

$289 pp for us from Syracuse, NY to MCO. Direct flights both directions and taxes included. Flying Sunday-Sunday.

Both flights via Jetblue, so we will have no extra fees for checked bags, carry on bags, seat selection, snacks, etc. Its all included.

I paid $287.60 for June out of Detroit. I booked on April 30th. We are thinking of going in October for Food & Wine and I haven't been seriously checking air fares yet, but at $260 for October, I would watch it for a little bit and see what it does. I bet it doesn't go down much lower than that though. I fly out of Detroit to Orlando about four times a year and $260 is not that bad these days. I want to add that I always fly Delta out of Detroit because of the number of daily non-stop flights they offer.

For the heck of it, I went to Delta's site and played around with some dates in October. If you go from a Tuesday to a Tuesday, the fares are $230 for economy and $199 for their new category - Basic Economy (you don't get your seat assignments until check in and you can't make changes). I checked around for long weekends, which is what I will be doing, and the fares are averaging $261/$274. I don't what your dates are, but the $230 is a good fare. The $199 is really good, but for families with small children, that wouldn't work. I would book that because I don't care where I sit. My husband would never go for it because he always wants an aisle seat to stretch his leg out because he is tall.

Op here
We did end up booking the $260 fare out of detroit to Tampa and then Orlando back home. We are flying into tampa on a Thursday evening and spending the night so we can go tot he beach and to see winter before we drive over to orlando. We ended up using some miles from Delta to cut it down even more. So for 4 tickets we paid $540 which I am happy with. We have to fly delta becasue we have the credit card that allows the free baggage. I looked into Allegiant air and they really stick it to you with bag fees, so yes the tickets may be cheap, but the get you another way.

Also that basic economy fair is a joke!! What if you have two small kids and they don't end up sitting with you!!

Now on to a car rental!!

Wow. I'm jealous of all your airfare prices! We paid $380 per ticket for 4 people for a total of $1520 from OKC to MCO. We could not find anything cheaper from here; we bought the tickets in December and the prices have only gone up since then.

Flying from Denver in August; when SW's schedule opened, prices across the board ranged from $420-$440/pp RT. I checked daily, and there was no movement outside of $5-$7 either way.

Lo and behold, SW suddenly drops prices just a few days ago and we were able to book our return flights for $114/pp. I redeemed miles for my flight down, and DH got a military fare of $160. I've thought about getting those refunded, but the flight times on SW that day don't really work for us, so we're going to stick with Delta.

My DDs will be flying in from New Orleans with their bio dad to meet us. We paid $112 for those one-way tickets, and XH paid $121 for his return flight the same day.

JetBlue flights:

October trip -- October 6-12 -- $195 pp RT Washington (DCA) to MCO
January trip -- Jan. 26 - Feb. 2 -- $250 pp RT Washington (DCA) to MCO

Just paid $255 round trip Jet Blue from White Plains/Westchester NY to MCO, in mid/late August, a Tuesday to a Monday. Weekend fares are crazy, $314 one way on a Sunday for an early flight.

Booked our original flights for Aug. on Southwest out of Hartford in Jan for $125/pp each way. The price went down in Feb. so we got the credit for each person and our final price was $200/person roundtrip non-stop to MCO. We then turned around and used the credit for DH's conference at the YC in June. Got our return flight on SW for $70 each and are flying down on JetBlue for $100/person. We are happy with this since last year we paid $179 per person on Delta. Delta isn't an option now since they have done away with all non-stops to MCO. We did check flying out of White Plains but the flights were more expensive and the times were not anything that we wanted since we like to leave early a.m. to get to MCO and leave on the last non-stop to return home.

Right now anything under $300 round trip is a deal for us. We fly from either ROC or SYR to MCO. We have $249 r/t August 25 to September 2 with 1 stop/layover each way.
