Why is there no airfare from PHL or ACY to MCO during Christmas week? Well, let me rephrase that...Why are the flights from PHL and ACY to MCO during Christmas week so ridiculously high? Do they actually think someone will pay between $500 and $700 per person for a regular coach seat? It's not like they are booking seats. There are plenty available. I've been checking pricing up to 3 times a day on just about every travel site and direct with the airline sites since the 330 day mark and the prices have not moved. Actually, they went up. Very frustrating. I hope this doesn't mean no Disney trip for us at Christmas this year, but it doesn't look good.

The week the kids are off from school for the elections and the teachers conference is the same way. ACY, the price triples or more for that week, PHL goes up, but not as bad as ACY.

We have driven to BWI to find < $200 a seat fares a few times when we didn't book PHL far enough out not to get bent over.

BWI is not so bad form SNJ, we left my SIL house in Turnersville and hit BWI (no traffic) in 2 hours.

Try flying out of Baltimore; I live in DE, so we always fly out of BWI. I am going the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend and coming back the following Saturday and my airfare roundtrip through Airtran was $218.20 with $30.00 for baggage fees.

How close are you to Pa? You might want to look at Harrisburg Airport. Airtran flies direct from Harrisburg to Orlando at a fraction of what Philly wants.

I agree, check alternate airports. Christmas can be a very expensive time to travel. SWA probably does not have their fares out for December yet, but keep an eye on them; USAirways almost always matches them in PHL. Check Air Tran. If your days are not set in stone, check one day later or earlier and see if that makes a difference. Connecting flights are a pain, but they may be less costly. You will probably pay more than at a less demanding time, so be a bit more flexible with regard to price. Use these links to sign up for a fare watch -- but be vigilant about watching out for sales on your own too. Download DING from SWA.

Southwest doesn't have their fares out yet for December. Once they come out in a few weeks, Airtran and USAirways will most likely come down a bit. I check everyday and usually find that Airtran does a decent fare sale a few days before the SW release. I usually find decent SW fares about 10 days-2 weeks after the release.

Same with ABE/LVI in Allentown, PA. Only 20 min. from Phillipsburg, NJ. Direct to MCO on AirTran, or indirect with United, Delta, USAir, etc.
