Airfare for October Question

Alright, so we missed the Airtran $49 fares and the US Air $69 ones too. Do we keep waiting and hoping for a drop, or do we give up and book Southwest (at least we could get a credit if fares drop).

Oh yes, we are flying out of Philly.

I don't know what your dates are, but I ran my October dates from PHL to MCO on Delta's site and they had some choices where a round trip would be $98/person. With taxes and fees it came to $139. Not bad at all, considering that would make the base fare $49/person. BUT the catch is that there's a layover in Atlanta. I personally hate layovers, but if it's just low $$ you're wanting, this may be an option.

I am leaving from Philly in October also. I just checked Airtran and I can get a non stop down for $155 leaving early am and a non stop back for $89 arriving late at night. Deal only good until 5/8

That's pretty similar to United and US Airways, too.

I am just bummed that I waited and missed some great air.

Check SW today, Ive been checking daily for our Oct trip and they went down this morning to $ 64 each way from 99 and 168 respectively. I booked it for 3 of us, I still have one up in the air when we figure out who's coming!!! but anyways I figure even if they come out with a ding for 49 I will try for the credit to card or take the credit to acct as we are flying out again in Dec and next year as well!

Since the October dates just became available, I'm sure there will be specials and dings at some point over the summer. I remember flying in November last year adn being frustrated in August and September because there were nothing but November dings. Mine finally came out and I got the $49 rate.

If I recall the pattern was that I booked full fare (internet special) in July, then they did a public fare sale in September that took it down to $69, then dings came in October for late November which took it down to $49.

This time for late 9/23 departure and 10/5 return, I'm just waiting until the sales start, but I'm checking daily just in case.

Stashf - how did you get those Southwest prices for October? I've checked 3x today from Philly and my dates are still at $103 for the cheapest.
