Airfare Cost December?

I was just trying to figure out with the cost of gas (not to mention driving 22hours) if it would be better to fly than drive.

Does anyone recollect how prices for flights were for last December? We are travelling December 17 -27 which I know is the holiday season but I was wondering if Southwest would still have any specials during that time.

If I remember correctly, most of the airlines had a sale last year. We had booked in June with Airtran. Our tickets were 230.00. They had a sale because SW had a sale. We could not rebook our tickets without a 50.00 per ticket penalty. Didn't save us anything after the penalty, so we kept our tickets. We were wishing that we had booked with SW. They don't charge a penalty for changing. This year we are going to book with SW. We are waiting for the December dates too--17th to 30th.

Does anyone remember when SW's seat sale was for last mid/late December? We will be flying out of BUF Dec 17-31 this year and want to fly SW due to easy cancellation/re-booking policy.

Last year we flew Independence Air (Dec 18-31) BUF-MCO for $200US pp. They had a seat sale around Oct 24th/04 for these dates and we booked at that time. At that time, SW was considerably more $.

Any info. would be appreciated.
