Just had to share with my canadian peeps

Booked our flights with Airmiles and Car rental for FREE!! got the last 2 flights both down and back in early December. We leave T.O. at 10:35 a.m. on the 5th and get back in at 12:30 a.m. on the 12th

This has made it so much more real for us!

We just booked our flights with airmiles from February 5th to the 19th!!!!

:cool1::woohoo:

Are you able to choose flights whenusing airmiles? The blue airmile card that you use at Sobey's?

Yes you use the airmiles that you get with the blue card that you use at Sobeys. You can request dates but if the location is popular such as Orlando you may not get the dates that you want. We needed 5 seats leaving February 9th to the 21st and were only able to get 4 seats leaving the 5th to the 19th so we had to pay for one seat.

Okay I'll be nosey...How many airmiles did it cost you? How much $? Details please!!

i love airmiles!
covered half our flights, most of our car rental and 3 passes to US/IOA for our trip later this week!

Nah not nosey i would have asked the same thing lol
There is a discount right now of 20% off westjet flights for certain time periods. I just worked with the lady till i had the flights i wanted (leaving TO at 10:35 and coming home at 12:30 am) on the days i wanted, lucked in i guess!!

Anyways cost me 1760 points each for a total of 3520. we use a gold card and have both American express platinum and MasterCard that have airmile rewards. I didn't add any money to them and have managed to get coupon for our car rental as well! :cool1:

How much were the fees and taxes that you had to pay?

Yes, my "free" tickets were going to cost me $795 in fees for 4...cheaper to drive to NH and fly Southwest. If you've found a way around the fees, I'd love to know...

My free tickets cost the same but I still had to buy one seat which cost me $880 out of Halifax to Orlando so the $795 for 4 seats is still a bargain.

fees, taxes and insurance (in case we get sick etc costs too much not to have i figure) cost me an extra 700 or so. May seem like a bit too much BUT last time we went we got stuck going over bridge to buffalo with a snow storm.

Add to all of this that we have a brand-new car and refuse to leave it in a parking lot somewhere for a week. My parents are paying for limo service to the airport for our anniversary gift :cool1:

Yep, family of 5 from Hfx for $1500 or so, that's quite a deal. Hope you have a super trip!

Oh well...so not the great deal that I thought. But obviously worth it for your peace of mind. We've never paid more than $800/rt for FOUR of us to fly out of Buffalo so I tend to use my airmiles for park tickets. I'm still waiting for Jetblue and Southwest to open up their flights for our November trip. I wish airmiles would book flights out of buffalo - now that would be a great deal - those extra charges and fees would be greatly reduced. Using the airmiles sponsored credit cards really is the best way to add up those miles!
Have a great trip!
