Well I think this depends on how still your children will sit!, my son is multiple disabled and we managed it okay with him, we made sure we sat him inbetween the both of us and didnt encounter any problems.
You arent strapped in, so really its your own judgement as to whether your child will stay sat for half an hour or so.
When we did it, we were all adults, but I do recall seeing children on other boats with their families, like Jules says, they were seating them in between the adults.
Our boat, although moving really fast, did feel safe - and it was great, great fun!
It is a great experience and although he was a little scared at first he soon started to enjoy the ride. It is quite noisy though but as Janice said - it is great fun!
We took Carys when she was just 5 and she loved it!!
Children have to wear lifejackets and we sat her in the middle of the bank of seats and she was perfectly safe (kept a tight hold on her hand though!!). The boat at Boggy Creek stops occasionally so you can see the wildlife up close and she just stood up at at the side at those points to get a better view, again with my holding tight!!
As Jules says, it's really just dependent on how long your child will sit for!! It's a brilliant half day out though and one I'd recommend.
I'd love to do this, but would it be okay for a 2 year old, and is it REALLY safe ?
What would happen if the boat broke down near to the wildlife.
(I know - I'm paranoid )
Haven't done the Boggy Creek airboat rides - although they come highly recommended on this site - but we did one down in the Everglades last October - it's simply the best thing ever in my DD's opinion and she's even just down a whole school topic on it!
She was 9 and didn't have a problem (other than mum trying to get her to keep her ear defenders on ).
The boats really do feel safe - you simply glide across the water on air.
I adore Disney but it is nice to see the "Real Florida". It will open your kids eyes to the richness and variety of attractions in Florida. Seating them in the middle ? Could not agree more & the life jacket thing is a must.
Had a look at the website and we are definitely going to go for it!!!! We've decided on this trip to do something different - not just theme parks and shopping!!
My DH is quite keen on just the two of us doing the night tour, though I'm not so sure after reading about the glow of the gators' red eyes!!!!!
