We have not flown in years (maybe 4 or 5). My DW now has an insulin pump. My question is what to expect at TSA Security checks.

Does she need to have a note from the doctor?
Does she need information on what the pump is?
Does the pump need to be taken off to go through bag screening? If so, will the system damage the insulin or pump?

I don't even know if this is all the questions I will have on this. I will be checking the TSA site as well.

Thank you. After posting, I went looking for more information at TSA and searched here for DW's pump model. Lots of good information. From other threads too once I remembered the name of her pump.

My daughter has been traveling with an insulin pump since she was 8 and now she's 20. She used to bring a letter from the doctor but it was never looked at. Once it was explained that it was an insulin pump all that was required was that she just hold it in her hand as she was going through security. No issues at all. You can always still bring a letter if you wanted to of course.
