Question about flying Air Transat from yyz to mco - good, bad, ugly? It's so much cheaper that I'm kinda worried

We will fly Detroit to MCO in May on Airtrans...it will be our third time. Airline was fine...nothing fancy much like most American airlines...basic service.

The seating pitch is much smaller than A/C, as another poster mentioned no frills.

You do have the availability to book and pay for your seats ahead of time, and MANY do this. If you don't, there is absolutely no guarantee you will be seated together. Just an FYI

Two different things here. Airtransat is a Canadian Charter company .... Airtran is a US airline.

Airtransat is no problem ... have they contracted a Canjet flight for your trip?

I want to caution you that we flew Air Transat once in December 1997 from YYZ - MCO so maybe things have changed since them, however this was our experience. Originally our flight with them was to leave sometime in the afternoon and when we went to pick up our tickets from our travel agent he said that the flight changed. Before landing at Orlando International Airport we would be stopping over at St. Petersburg - Clearwater International Airport and that meant getting to Orlando later then we thought. Well the frustrating thing was that only 10% off the passengers were scheduled to get off at St. Petersburg - Clearwater, where as 90% off the passengers finally destination was Orlando. We even asked someone from Air Transat why they did this and said it was really stupid decision. Now the only reason we kept that same flight is because our travel agent said there was nothing he could do.

I flew with them in 2007 YHZ to MCO on Canjet ... no problems here. Yes, it will be a standard charter plane. No frills, but I would fly with them for the right price. This is what they use when it is a Canjet flight.

The seats have enlarged by the pitch by 2" since 1997, and 2" is A LOT IMHO. Being chartered our planes fly FULL, or darn near close to it. It is very rare you find an empty seat.

Your TA should have advised you about the stop, oops I just read she did.
AT can do that, although we Florida it is VERY rare. It happens more with flights from the Maritimes to Dominican and such.

You can check online to see if it is AT is operating the flight or Canjet.

I'm trying AirTransat in 3 weeks to Orlando out of Montreal. It says there's entertainment on the flight?

I registered myDD 11for their kids club and got a great package from them with luggage tags, snack coupons and it says we have our own checkin counter with kids, we can board ahead of time and DD gets an activity pack - all for free.

Downside is, one of the flights is contracted to Canjet so we don't get to do any of that but I thought it was a nice touch.

Just flew with them last week. No problems at all. The staff could be a little friendlier, like crack a smile every now and then. But we didn't care, we were going to our happy place :cool1:
On our way home, the plane was half empty, so my son and I got a whole row each to stretch out and have a little snooze.

There are drop down screens in the center aisles. Every 5th or 6th row.

You can check it out online. You will see exactly where they are located.

I remember that our TA didn't even call to say that our travel documents had arrived, since we were in the area of where the office was we decided to go and see just incase. It was then when he said they arrived and told us about the flight change. Now I realize the flight change was not his decision, however he should have called us in advance to say this and ever since then he no longer helped us with future vacations we took.

just returned air transat or canjet last week from cancun.

but expect to be late!!!

small seats,, but you do get a meal.
so if being late is not a problem lol go for it
