Air Tran - should I wait for discount fares?

I have been watching the Air Tran fares for next March for a couple of weeks now, (since they were released) and the cheapest flight is $404 round trip! I looked back over the fares for the months prior to March and they have discount fares of $109 or $115 in most weeks except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I didn't budget for $400 air fare, but I'd rather pay that than drive! We'll be flying out of Wichita - I don't know if this makes a difference or not.

Since I am flying at a busy time (Spring Break Week) and I have specific times I prefer (depart early morning and return afternoon), should I go ahead and book now and pay the higher fares, or wait and hope that discounted fares are offered? We will only need two tickets so I keep telling myself to wait it out, but then get nervous that they will sell out of the flights I want!

Any thoughts on this?

I would definately wait. Airtran always has sale fares but they don't announce them too far in advance. I think the sale fares they have now go through Feb so just a little longer and you should find a good deal.

I guess I'll have to be patient! I can't see them selling out the flights with fares that high! Thanks :)

It looks like their sale fares only go through 2/1/07. I am waiting for a couple weeks later. Any idea when those fares are historically released?

I would wait a little, but not too long. I played the waiting game this summer for our August trip and before I knew it, all of the nonstop flights were sold out. We ended up driving (never again!)

I would wait as well. I am flying out of MSP in April/May. I will be happy in the $99-$109/leg range for that airport. Airtran seems to run specials quite often. Subscribe to their emails so you are notified and can grab it. :)
