I got an AirTran Rewards card in the mail several months ago. With it I can earn points for free air fare. I checked my acct on the internet and found they credited my acct for all of my flights, however, they did not show credits for my DS, age 12, who always goes with me.
Oh, I also should add that in today's mail, DS got an Air Tran Rewards card in his name! (even though, he is a minor and can't make reservations himself!)
I called Air Tran to see why DS's flights didn't show on my account.
The lady I spoke with stated, even though I paid for the flights, the points go toward the individual passenger!
I think this is a rotten way to try to take so called "reward points" from a customer!
Does this seem right to you????

This is the way all of the airline rewards programs that I'm familiar with work...

I'm pretty sure many airlines do this. I know we're also members of Delta and they do the same thing.

I looked into it and the program is fairly clearly defined to work this way.

Just about every airline reward or FF program I have ever heard of operates like this.

Sorry you're feeling taken advantage of.

Yep - my dd's ages 7 and 9 have an awards number themselves on every airline we fly. Regardless of who makes the payment, it is the passgenger flying that gets the reward miles. When my kids get the free flights or upgrades we don't complain at all!!

Just remember to call and be sure that the flights he did fly are credited properly to his account and make sure this happens every time he flies. I guess my short answer to your question is yes, I do think it's fair but I am sorry that you misunderstood.

Since my children were old enough to have an airline seat, I enrolled them in all of the frequent flyer programs. There is no reason why your DS should have his miles accredited to YOUR account. It should be on his account. I don't see what the problem is.

Okay, I guess I didn't understand how the program worked. If I book a flight for me and him then I should be able to use the credits from both accounts?
