Air Tran Question

I've never flown Air Tran but I'm planning on using them for my flight home this year. I see they say you can't pick your seats until check-in unless you pay a fee when booking. Does anyone know how much this fee is? I don't like leaving the seats to chance and I'd rather have them assigned when I book the flight. I'll be flying home from Tampa to Stewart aiport in Newburgh, NY.

When I flew in September I paid $5.00 each way per seat to choose my seats in advance. It may have gone up a little since then, I don't know but it is easy and well worth it in my opinion. Have a great trip

It's $7.50 per flight!

I just got my seats this morning and they charged me 5.00 a seat.

Thanks for the responses. Okay, that's not much and for me, well worth knowing my family has seats together.

Does anyone know how far in advance they start booking flights. I'm going in August and they don't show any flights for that time yet. I'm taking Jet Blue down to Orlando and I see they are booking now, but I'd like to wait and get all of my flights booked at one time.

I checked with Airtran and I was told that they can post flights from 6 months out..I too am going in August and I am hoping to get a good deal.
