Air Tran Changes

Air Tran changes their flight times often. And unless you are within about 30 days it's possible it WILL change again. We used them for the first time last summer (out of BWI) and they changed our return flight about 5 times. I said I wouldn't use them again...:lmao: Never say never! They keep coming up with the best fares (even WITH the baggage fees) so I keep using them!! Since they started charging to check bags I got DH to agree to getting an Owners Locker! I am currently watching for a good price for flights for next March. I noticed they don't offer a lot of options out of IAD - it's the best price right now but the flight going down is an evening flight so I'm watching BWI & DCA for something earlier. I am waiting tho for SW & Jet Blue to release their schedules into April. The more competition they have the better their prices. (My cousin just flew them out of Charleston, WV over Labor Day for less than $50!!) I just have to keep in mind that they change a lot & that what I orig. book probably won't actually BE what we actually fly. If they DO change it to something that's not acceptable for you they will change you to another flight w/o any hassles.

If I didn't check the Air Tran web site every once in awhile, I wouldn't have known our flight time changed heading to MCO this weekend. Some type of notification - an email or phone call - would have been nice.

I'm surprised they didn't email you. I'm using them Sept 26th and Oct 4th. I've gotten a couple of emails telling me, my flight has changed (the last time about 2 1/2 weeks ago). The email had a block I needed to check saying 'I ACCEPT' the changes. I also got one just yesterday saying they had changed my flight times for Dec 12th and 20th.

What happens if you don't accept your changes?

I have been debating as I might switch flights but got 3 notifications and the last one said Final notification. But then they changed the flight again so now I am back to the first notification status. If I don't do it before the final notification email - am I stuck on the flight?

What if I do accept the changes and decide later that the flight change won't work? I didn't add very well when I first saw the change and now I am realizing that my layover is only 25 mins.

I just looked at the Airtran website this morning. They cancelled our non-stop flight to MCO. :sad2: I will be traveling alone with my 2DS and really do not want to have to switch planes in an unfamiliar airport.

When I called Airtran the agent said we could get a full refund if we couldn't leave 2 days earlier (on Monday which still has a non-stop flight). I will not be able to leave that early in the week due to work conflict. I did find a direct flight on AA that I can book for a one-way to MCO.

But, my question is...can I go back and purchase the return flight home with Airtran as a one way? I would like to take advantage of the $25 off coupon that they are offering. As well as book it through Kayak to avoid seating fees.

Would love to hear from anyone who knows before I make a big mess of things.

As long as the flight is on there, you can absolutely do that. Just call and tell Airtran that you would like to cancel since it is no longer a non-stop. Then you can go book right away for the new flight you want. I have called Airtran - cancelled a flight and rebooked the exact same flight at 1/2 the cost in a matter of ten minutes before.

Now, if they change your flight times, can you book a completely different time frame? Our flights have changed, and we are actually considering going at a different time. Doesn't seem like this would be included in that policy, but you never know.

ya i have also heard the same news but ill now their is no valid confirmation for it. lets see what happens in the future.

You can cancel your flight and rebook.

We ended up cancelling our flight. Getting home at 10:20 was not going to work. We ended up booking a delta flight and the nonstop gets us back at 7:00. Now lets hope Delta doesn't screw up!

If there was any delay to our return flight, it would have been a nightmare. The delta flight was only $20 more per person for nonstops.

Did you decide to fly into Cincy instead?

We got our flights for $60 a person with the coupon so I doubt the Delta flight would be better but I am irritated that they keep changing the flight. I think we fly back the same week you do.

one way - we are cruising out of Miami and then driving to Orlando for a few days. So we booked one way into Miami and one way home out of Orlando...turns out we paid $550 RT for 4 of us for the whole trip! Those coupons were awesome for us!

Thanks! Yes, I cancelled my roundtrip with Airtran. They said I will get the full refund in 5-7 buisness days.

I was able to get a one way non-stop on AA for a little bit more per person. However, when I booked my one way return flight with the $25 off coupons and the free seating assignment back home with Airtran, I ended up saving $66 overall.

So, their cancelling our direct flight to Orlando actually benefited our family. Thanks Airtran!:yay:

They changed the times but not by much; still getting to Disney before 11 am :woohoo:

Whew! I'm looking good so far - no flight changes.

Thanks for the heads up!
