I was just thinking about my trip in a couple of weeks, and got onto thinking about the flight, and how the recent scares at the airport has made me a lot more wary.

Does anyone think that some people will not go to disney world because of the flights? perhaps it might be a little less crowded

I doubt the recent events will have any affect on WDW crowds. A very large number of US visitors drive to WDW - even from as far away as NY!

We were there 2 weeks after sept 11th and all the times we have been we had never known it so quiet we were walking through world showcase and i commented to DH there was no one else in sight Spooky!!!

We went from 28th July - 12th August, and we got to the park about half an hour before official opening. so usually 8.30. We did Islands of Adventure with no queues, same with Universal Studios. it was great. However during the day the queues picked up, but not as big queues as i expected.

I wouldn't expect a significant drop in crowd No.s,as the threat was mainly to do with the UK.At this time of year(before our 1/2 term) the UK probably makes up a very small %age of visitors. We also went 2 weeks after 9/11 & baring in mind how much of a disaster this was for the US,although quieter it was hardly a Ghost Town. On an other thread someone was considering cancelling their holiday on the strength of this,& if they think that that is best for them then so be it,but we also have to remember that last year it was our public transport that was getting it so do we all stop taking buses & the tube?

Agreed. On the other thread, apart from the OP, how many others said that they would cancel their trip (either upcoming in the next couple of months or IF they had been booked over the next couple of months)?

I think that you will find a FEW cancellations, but most of the rest will still go: many travelling over the next couple of months have either already paid in full, are determined to enjoy themselves anyway AND/OR are very optimistic and think that their trip is a long time off....

Don't think that you will see a HUGE effect...

I shouldn't think that it wil be effected too much by the current events as many will still go from the UK and I cant see anyone from the USA cancelling a trip to WDW either!

Many people are saying that this year the parks are having a quieter time than normal and this will not help the situation.
It may not affect US visitors but they are already reducing their numbers due to the hurricane threat. For the first time according to tourist figures Florida is now the No. 2 destination. California is now attracting more US visitors.
