I have two frequent flyer award tickets that I am going to use for my next trip. I will need purchase one ticket as three are traveling in our party. When I do a search for pricing for one ticket, the price is considerably higher than if I search for three. Is it always more money to purchase a singe ticket air fare?

It is not ususally more so I have no idea why this is happening.

However, before you buy the one ticket have you booked the two frequent flyer tickets. Unless you have a SW Rapid Reward getting the two seats could be MUCH harder then you may expect. Just a warining becasue Orlando is a very popular destination with FF Tickets.

Very strange that shopping for a single plane ticket shows a higher price per person. Actually it usually goes the other way. If on a particular flight on a particular day there are only two "cheap seats" left in the secret quotas, if you shop for three tickets you are quoted for the next higher fare class.

That is odd, unless the airline has a companion fare promotion going on. What airline/airports/dates are you looking at?

I thought it was strange too. I have booked a many award tickets in the past while paying for a single ticket. This is the first time I compared paying for a single ticket vs. paying for 3 tickets. I did notice that on weekends, searching for air fare usually results in higher fares. I'll do more searching this coming week to see if I get the same results.
