Folks, I know I have read about buying WDW tickets with Air Miles on this board, but am in a bit of a hurry to get somewhere and was hoping someone had a fast answer.

Has anyone used AM to buy WDW tickets?
If so, base tix or hopper, non-expiry?
If base tix, did you upgrade them at guest services once you got to WDW. How much to upgrade with hopper & non-expiry?

Thanks
John

I have not done this personally -- order through AM -- but I have read on the boards before to definitely go with the lowest point item, and then upgrade at the parks. So, I would go with a 7-day base child ticket (1745 airmiles - 1690 for 5-day), and then upgrade to adult, or inclusive, etc. when you get to WDW.

I don't think an extra 1000 airmiles is good value just for the hopper and non-expiry feature. Frankly, I don't think non-expiry is good on that length ticket. Chances are you'll use your 7 days.

Maybe someone else can give the upgrade costs. Keep in mind to doublecheck the dates of the airmiles hoppers. It currently says in the notes, not good after May 1, 1998. I assume they meant 2008!

I've ordered 6 tickets with all the options included, and 2 base tickets that I upgraded to hoppers once we arrived at the resort.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what it cost to add the hopper.....:confused3

But I'll be glad to answer any other questions!:)

We have often ordered from airmiles. We always order the nonexpiring, non hopper passes. I believe the upgrade to a hopper is $40 and we haven't bothered doing this.

Last January I got 3 5 day passes from AM. I wanted to upgrade them to 6 day. I asked at POFQ's front desk, that CM told me that airmiles had given us "old stock" passes and it would cost $70 to upgrade as we had to pay the difference from old to new park pass prices and then the cost of the upgrade. I declined.

The next day I stopped at the Epcot ticket office and asked the same thing she said it would cost $3 a ticket to add the extra day. I said "sure", then she made a mistake while doing it and said since it took her so long she gave me a discount and charged us $5 total for all three tickets to be upgraded.

So definitely possible to do but you might have to ask around. Kim

Always ask around. I have noticed that if you use your ticket first ( like one day of your ticket) and THEN go to guest services to add hopping or more days, they will only charge for the add on and NOT for the difference between the discounted value of the ticket and the gate value of the ticket. I had one CM at MGM say that I couldn't add days to my 5 day base ticket...he said it would be impossible ( ! ) Until the CM at sitting next to him showed him how to do it. HTH.

I added an 8th day to our 7 day passes from Air Miles. They did it at Guest Services at the resort and cost $6.00 for the 3 passes.

Thanks folks. Think I will be ordering the 5 day base tickets and upgrading at guest services.

Go for it.
I think Disney tickets are one of the best AM rewards.
I got 2 5-days base tickets and don't regret doing it at all.

I agree with this statement completely as Disney tickets are one of the few items available through Air Miles that are hard to find at a discounted price . . . electronics, toys, flights, etc. can always be had at a discount!!!

I plan to buy my passes through AM next time around!!

Great tips on the upgrading, by the way!!:thumbsup2

I just ordered WDW tickets through AirMiles last month.

We actually got 7 day passes with no expiry, park hopper and water park and more - the only reason we did this is becasue my MIL used her airmiles for us and she has loads of them. :cool1:

If I was using MY airmiles I would have gone for base tickets :rotfl: - the upgrade cost is minimal really, and you don't know if you need the extra things till you are there.

Enjoy your trip.

I am upgrading one all inclusive 7 day ticket from airmiles for an annual pass with the difference of about $45 ! I also have a 7 day magic your way from airmiles which I will upgrade to an annual pass for just $124.00. We are going to Disney for 18 days (Dec. 18th - Jan 5th) and then returning for MNSSHP in October. Thoought this would make the most sense and it is cheap!!!!!!

I haven't done it for WDW but I did for WDL and it was easy to order and easy to upgrade. Will definitely do it again next time around.

I used my AM for 2 5-day base tickets. I upgraded to 6 day with no expire option. I paid about $120. The extra day was only $2 per ticket. I know that I only paid the amount per ticket that is on the price list that WDW publishes.

Two things that I did:

- I used the ticket 1 day before I upgraded. Once a ticket has been used the WDW system can no longer tell whether it was purchased at a discount or purchased at the gate.

- I went to Guest Services (at DTD but any park will also do) they are generally more knowledgable about doing an add-no/upgrade to a ticket than the resort concierge.

This is all great info, thanks everyone. I had no idea you could use AM for tickets.

One question if no one minds. How many AM do the tickets typically cost?

Thank you, Suz
