Air Miles insurance question?

So is there a way I can insure the fees I pay to redeem airmiles? I'll be spending $800 to redeem the points for tickets, and I'd like some security on that. Anyone have any experience with it?

If you mean that you are buying airmiles and the cost is $800....just use a credit card. Visa or whichever card covers purchases.

Or do you mean the $800 is for taxes and such on the plane ticket price? If you purchase the airmiles insurance you do get some type of cancellation/trip interruption insurance. They will rebook tickets for you, on any airline, if you fall into one of their covered categories, and it won't cost you any extra. Not sure if they give you the taxes back if you can't go on the trip, maybe call and ask them?

I've heard something along those lines as well. You can insure the tickets to allow yourself to re-book but they don't refund any money.

Thank you all! I hadn't really realized the CC could do it for us. We upgraded our package and got all the coverage we needed for less than buying trip insurance. And we're booked!! Hooray!

Congrats....doesn't it feel good when it's official?

Ya...the CC is the classic paper trail. Call them and check it out...it's something that you should know.
