I'm not someone who flies much. We usually drive to WDW. Two years ago my husband and I flew to Orlando and WDW for our 25th wedding anniversary on Air Transat. The cost of the two tickets was 765.00 total. Before that, the last time we had flown anywhere was in 1982. I am planning on taking my daughter to WDW at the end of August. I got AS Movies with DC discount. I phoned CAA travel last week to inquire about flights. Air Canada had the only direct flight to Orlando. They quoted me 1,197.00 total for two tickets. I did not book because I wanted to look at my finances and figure out my taxes before putting the tickets on my credit card. This week I have been quoted 1,442.00 total for two tickets on the same flight. The fares had increased. Air Transat has yet to post flights for August. The travel agent said I could be taking a chance waiting much longer as I may not get a flight at all. I have been trying to figure all this out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not drive to Buffalo where you can fly for ALOT less than the prices you posted. We can fly non stop on Southwest for under $200 each (round trip) Take a look at their web site if you consider driving into the states to fly out to WDW.

Maryann I would wait it out if I were you for Air Transat's fares to come up. as since they're not posted yet they haven't already sold out yet. I've been reading (on this board) horror stories re: Air Canada and I had a dear friend just come back last Sunday from Victoria BC via AC and the service to this elderly lady was disgusting!

Also as Peg has suggested Southwest Airlines might be an idea too for you via Buffalo. We're thinking of going with them next year and the fares are about $260.00 CND, that I've seen but still that's alot cheaper than AC's rates! Good luck in whatever choice you make. Be sure and let us know what you've decided!;)

Same thing happened to us. I was looking at Air Canada and Air Transat fares in Jan 2002 for April 2002 trip. Air Transat was about $450 per seat. Air Canada was $385, seat sale. I held the AC seat, but let it go after 24 hours, still thought Air Transat might come down. WELL! AC and AT went UP three days later. I booked AC at $440 per seat, while still watching the flight prices go up! I think AT is now charging over $500 for the time of year we booked. I think we will drive the next trip!

MaryannF,

Try Expedia.ca for good Air Transat fares. We've completed 2 trips with them, no problems. Also, planning 2 other trips with tickets from Expedia. Our summer airfare for 4 was $1436, better rate than on Air Transat's site. The week we're going this summer only showed MCO flights on 3 days/week.

Good Luck!

Another place to check is www.itravel2000.com. I just checked our dates for May and their flights with AC were $200 cheaper per ticket. Air Transat wasn't avail. for my dates but I'm sure they would be even less. We had pretty well decided to fly out of Buffalo but this narrows the gap a bit. But believe me Buffalo is still looking a little more appealing.
