Spirit air has specails for those of you outside of Atlantic City to Orlando cheap! Every Mon and Wed it comes out online at 1:15pm. I just flew to Disney 2 weeks ago and I'm going back in 2 weeks. I paid $3 one way which came to $23 r/t and $9 one way which came to $39 r/t. I stayed at a home that sleeps 6-14, all one floor, with free baby furniture, private pool, and she runs a special for $142 a night from $220. You can't beat it if you go with a few people. It was in Grand Reserve about 8 mins. from Disney. rentalatdisneyarea.com

Am I the ONLY curious person?

10 posts and I think 9 of them are "promoting" this condo?

So you're saying you only get the cheap airfare if you book this specific condo?

I don't know what OP is saying but the Spirit $9 deal is open to anyone who joins thier "club"

Now, this is one area where I warn folks.... airlines can't make money on $9 airfares..... So... buyer beware! Realize there is a risk. To some of us it looks like Spirit does these as "cash grabs" and that makes me nervous. Would I book it? Maybe for a trip that I could FULLY cancel at the last minute if the airline goes belly up?

I agree completely. I went to the site and saw that my tickets would be $79 each way for August, but I don't trust giving my money to an airline that offers $9 airfare, especially this far out. I'll probably stick with Continental or JetBlue, but I'm not even willing to purchase those fares yet -- just too soon. Thanks for looking out for us and offering some very sage advice.

I have NO insider info on Spirit, but.... they were really struggling when fuel prices peaked. They seem to have a model that's just hard to imagine making money and eventually......And an airline like Spirit is NOT going to get a bailout from the goverment LOL! They will just go the way of Skybus (or Skybust!)

Because I found a great deal and flew for $3 in October and $9 in November ad I'm booked again for $8.50 in January-you have a problem with that???? Because 7 of us flew for $147 r/t and it cost us $20 to stay in this home-you have a problem with that???? This is for people who can't afford to take their family away and I'm excited about it and you have a problem with me telling people. So, it cost me $9 for 3 months to join the fare club and yes, like I said, the specials come out on Mon/Wed at 1:15-today's Friday, so it won't be $1-$9.That's why it's $79. They're far from going bankrupt. It's open seats that they have available and are trying to fill the plane. They've been doing this for MONTHS. It didn't just start!! I used to stay in a condo, but they sold it. In response to your 'curious' comment-be a little more open minded. I will keep renting that house because I don't have the time to look on line at all of the other gazillion properties. And in my opinion it's cheap for 6 bedrooms!

CarolA wasn't saying she had a problem with the airfare and lodging prices you paid. All she offered was "buyer beware", which is some very sound advice, considering most airline prices start in the $600.00 range now, round-trip.

:thumbsup2

Not from this area. I use to fly air tran out of Philly for $49 the last 2 years ($116.70 r/t) It's now $59. o/w today. That message was for anyone in my area-Philly, Delaware, NJ to get away cheap. It seems negative people hate a good deal and she's not even in the area to fly for that price. The flight deals that came out on Wed were for Jan, Feb, March. It changes twice a week and it's only certain dates, but you have to book it within a 1/2 hour or the seats are gone usually. Once in awhile they're still there at night. She shouldn't discourage other people when she's not even in this area.

There are certain rules about what can and cannot be posted on the DIS. It seemed to me, more like you were trying to "sell" the condo and not so much the airfare. Also, if you check out the transportation board, you'll see that, particularly in the past year or so, airlines who offer these "too good to be true" prices, usually wind up in bankruptcy or completely going out of business and leaving travelers stranded. Carol was just reiterating that people should use caution, because what is a great deal today, could be a loss of money and flights later. And FWIW, I am in your area, that's why I questioned the price.

No need to be so defensive, but understand that some people will possibly question your motives when it seems like you're "selling" something, strictly because you're new. There are so many new posters who post strictly to sell cell phones, etc., and are never to be heard from again. But hang around a while and you'll see what I'm talking out.

BTW, welcome!

Spirit really does offer these fares, I have seen them in the past. There is also a family at my son's school that does last minute trips when the $9.00 rate pops up.

Personally, I would not use them, the cheap rate makes me nervous. When I told my husband about the cheap prices, he asked if we had to pedal to get there :rotfl2:

also from the philly area.......spirit has been doing this for some time (at least a year or more.) i have a close friend who has the ability to travel last minute and takes advantage of these super low fares alot. quick trips south in winter to golf, he even booked his honeymoon flights with one of these specials. not saying spirit is never going out of business, but this special is nothing new for them. honestly if i had more flexability in my schedule and could travel last minute, i certainly would be taking advantage of it.

Hello there neighbor from Alburtis...I think I know who you are-LOL!:goodvibes
I tried to talk my dh into flying Spirit but he didn't want to drive over 2 hours to get to the airport...even though the rates are amazing!

We have used Spirit several times without problems. We take advantage of the deals and usually fly round trip for around $200, family of five. AC airport is a dream compared to Newark or any of the NY airports. They only have 7 or 8 gates so it is a breeze getting through security, baggage, ect. You do need to be flexible with your travel dates though.

while our family has never been able to catch a spirit deal, they have been very happy to fly out of AC. I hope spirit stays afloat because they are the only airline in AC now. Grammy

I also saw deals like this last Jan. Too bad it was flights like Mon-Fri. I couldn't have my kids miss a whole week of school for a 4 nt. trip. I was just looking for a long weekend little getaway.
Also they were selling so fast by the time I'd check a calendar to see which day of the week it would be and what return dates we could do, it would be gone. It had to be RT only so you had to be really ready and quick to book it.

Personally, I wouldn't book anything on Spirit very far in advance. 1 month max. lol!

I'm not sure if the OP is selling or just really excited that WDW can be done so inexpensively... If he/she were just selling, I don't think the bit about airfare would be so detailed and tell how exactly to get cheap air which is probably what prevents many people from visiting WDW.
Time will tell but if he is just excited it's not a very warm welcome.

We have flown Spirit twice and have been very pleased both times. While we did not get $9 fare (and yes, I've seen it like that for a long time too), we did snag $99 r/t tickets to Boston 2 years ago!

I checked them out this year for our flight, but tickets averaged $500/person. :(

ETA: The $9 fare is only from certain airports. My guess is they use the airports that maybe aren't as full as others.

The seats are real.

I bought 4 round trip in Dec 2007 for Feb 2008. ($247 total inc. taxes)

I aslo bought four roundtrip in June 2008 ofr Sept. 2008. ($147 total inc taxes)

Can't beat the prices.

It is Spirit's form of advertising. There are only 8 or 10 seats on the specific flight on the designated day. You are flying on their schedule, not yours.

Look at all the free advertising it is getting them though.

Regarding folding/bankruptcy, that can happen to any airline today.

Spirit has been around for a while and so have these deals twice a week.

In JNune forlast Feb

My hubby and I fly Spirit all the time and LOVE them

This past Thanksgiving.... 79.00 round trip for the two of us out of AC.

Cant beat that ... You really have to get up early to get the deals...
