air cards??

we just picked up a verizon air card. it seems to be working really good. but, we are wondering if the cingular card would be just as good.

we have cingular (at&t) for our cell phones and do not have any problems with them.

just wondering what everyone else has and how it works out for them. we are driving right now through springfield, mo. so, far i have had i-net every time i have checked, from wi.

if you get the cingular, get the edge card, not the 3g. i had one, and it's slow as molasses. I now use my cellphone to get me online, plugged into the laptop via usb cable.

the one we picked up is a usb air card and we are getting up to 1.5 meg. on it. so, it is not too bad.

i told dh to go into cingular with this one and compare them. we have 30 days to like it or not.. we haven't even tried it at home, yet. picked it up and left on a trip.

i am liking the fact that i can look up the weather as we drive..

I have Verizon and use my phone via usb cable to get on the web also like Gatordad. $10.00 or $15.00 a month extra vs. 50 or 60. It is a little slower but it works and it much cheaper.

Work provides me with a Verizon Card, and so far I've had great coverage and decent to great speed. I think the only time I've had no coverage was in a campground in Townsend, TN in the Smokey Mountains.

We used one from Hubby's work. Not sure what it was but they had a ton of them locked in a safe for employee's to use when they travel for work in case of no internet..they offered him one, so he could be contacted by email if needed.. it was fast but it there were only a few places on our site that we could get signal from because of the trees. we are hoping to get another on for our october trip.. its great to be able to surf in the car ride there!

I've been using the Verizon air card exclusively for the internet since May of 2007 and have had excellent coverage and speed. We've been Verizon cell phone customers for like 6 years again with excellent coverage.

I got the Cingular USB card right after it came out. Worked okay initially but suddenly started giving my computer the fatal blue error screen. When I called customer service they were no help at all. Ended up taking it back for a refund and was very disappointed.

We use the Shark modem program which teathers the internet connection from our Blackberry to the computer... it is not high speed but it is faster then dial up which is always better then no internet connection at all! The Program costs $45.00 per registered computer and is a one time only fee! It is only good if you have unlimited internet on your berry though!!

I posted this on another thread about these a while back. We "rented" an att usb air card for this trip, we bought it, tried it here at home, it didn't have any signal, used it on the trip, it was ok, had great reception everywhere we stayed, but was kinda slow. And I just returned it today. No problems, just told him it didn't work at our house, but then neither does my cell phone usually.

i have a sprint card and it does very well...hate sprint cellular service, but the air card is just fine

We have been using cingulars/at&t air card for sometime now and have no problems at all. My only complaint is forget about sending photos it takes way to long but I am sure that is how it is with all air cards. The only time we did not have a connection was in Yellowstone no cell phone there. We do not hook up through our cell phone we just plug in our air card. Good luck and happy camping.

I have Sprint, both cellular and air card. I have been very happy with the service and it works very well at all of WDW. I recently upgraded to the new usb card and it is faster then the old pcmcia card I had been using for two years. I even bought a Cradle Point router so I can share with others.

I tried using my Sprint HTC Mogul phone as a "Phone as Modem" but it wouldn't stay connected and wasn't as fast.

Ok, I've got a Sprint Centro phone with broadband internet service. It's always worked great, but the small screen can be a hassle when you just want to surf. I desperately want to have full-screen internet service at FW. How would I get internet service on my laptop using that phone? I don't want to change my plan with Sprint since I'm on a older, cheaper plan. If I change it, I'll pay more. I should probably be asking Sprint all this, huh? But I trust you guys more!

If the phone can be used as a "phone as modem", you can add an unlimited data plan for $49.99 which would be an upgrade to your current data plan.
