Air Canada Flyers Beware

If the YYZ agents let you through, consider yourself lucky. Technically, the agents in Miami are correct, it's ONE carry and ONE personal item. As a frequent traveler - the volume of bags people are lugging on planes these days to avoid fees is insane, and I honestly appreciate when the gate agents crack down.

Exactly! - Three bags - dream on!

I'm all for carry on when possible..as long as the bag is light and IF there were a hard landing and it flew out..won't kill someone. But I think one carry on and a purse should be it. No more. And no trying to squish a big, heavy bag to make it look carry on size! I like what they have in the U.K. They weigh your bag and make sure it fits through a frame of sorts to ensure size. LOTS are turned back for check in. As for the baggage fees now..I wish they would just hike the fares to include baggage and quit the nickle and diming...
My 2 cents.

totally agree!!

Most airlines do allow a carry-on, a lap top bagand a regular sized purse, not a huge bag-type purse. They also tend to let more go through if the flight is not full and there is more room in the overhead compartment. if the flight is full, some airlines will announce at the gate that they will check carry-on bags for no charge - Delta is notorious for this because they almost always overbook their flights. Each person in my family (except the youngest only carries a backpack) always carries one carry-on and one other bag - backpack, purse because it saves at least one more checked bag and then when flying Delta we are almost always able to check them for free at the gate and we don't have to worry about getting them in and out of the overhead compartment.
