Air Canada Check-in

Never flown AC before, so I was just wondering is it necessary to do online check-in 24hours before? We can do it on the way there, but not returning, so I was just wondering if it will be a big hassel if have to wait until we get to MCO to check-in? We are three people, so we would need a whole row... are the seats pre-chosen for us or do we chose them upon check-in?

Thanks!

With Air Canada you can choose your seats now on their website. I would assume that they will hold those seats for you until the checkin cut off time (2-3hours prior to the flight).

We usually bring a laptop with us so we always check in at 24 hours so I have never had a problem, but I always choose our seats when I buy them.

I should add there is currently no charge to choose your seats ahead of time, unlike Westjet.

I believe it depends on which fairs you buy. If you go with Tango, you do need to pay to choose your seats, Tango plus or anything higher and you do not.

To the OP I chose our seats before hand, and going down out of Charlottetown, when we did the online checkin, they had changed our seats for some reason. I was flying with someone who had never flown, so I calmly and quietly explained and they re-arranged our seats to have us exactly what I had selected when I had purchased the tickets! Confusing. We did not check in online when we were going home, and I've never done it as I've never had Internet access in WDW. It's always been fine going home.

If you're visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, you should know that any Resort Concierge or Theme Park Guest Relations location will be happy to facilitate your online airline check-in if you visit them.

Yes, we've done this @ WL and CSR. Also many non-Disney resorts may have a "business centre" or computers and printers available for this purpose.

Yes I know I can use it eventually, but at our 24h check-in we will be in the middle of lunch at the MK, so I meant if we don't check-in right at 24h will it be a big problem? (ie: like SWA airlines)

While we booked AC, we didn't book directly through AC, so there was no option to pick our seats beforehand.

I don't believe so. Air Canada doesn't use the same boarding process as Southwest, for which you pretty much have to check in exactly 24 hours in advance if you want any hope of being together.

As long as you check in reasonably before hand, I would like to think there's a good chance of you being seated together. If you don't have seats together, you could always inquire at the Customer Service Agent at MCO or to the Flight Attendant, I'm sure they can work something out.

Even if you didn't book directly with Air Canada you should be able to secure your seats before hand as long as the fare is Tango Plus or higher. Call your agent or failing that, as long as you have the AC Bkg number call AC.
