We are flying into Orlando on Thurs with AC. We just received our documents last week and our agent (out of the US) told me that AC is not a partner airline with Disney. So once we land in MCO I need to either get my checked bags myself and take them to the ME area OR go to the ME area with my baggage claim checks and someone will collect them for me. I don't like the idea that my bags will be left out on the turnstile waiting for someone else to get them. I thought I could put my ME tags on my bags and once we left YYZ I would see the bags again at Pop.
Does anyone have first hand experience with ME and AC? Could you verify if this is true or how you did it?
Thanks,
Kim

I think the preferred airline thing doesn't affect ME. AFAIK, the preferred airline is more to do with resort airline check in (a wonderful thing, but only for US domestic flights as I recall). I'm pretty sure your baggage tags will get your bags where you want them to go, but I'm sure you'll get someone who's flown AC. For instance, Southwest isn't (or at least wasn't) a preferred carrier, but you can get them to pick up bags on SW.

The preferred airline is for your return trip home.
Put your tags on your bag and they will be delivered to your room as long as
you clear customs here.
You will need to bring your bags to the ME coach and take them with you to check in at the airport.

This is correct. If you're flying AC out of YYZ then you will clear customs in Toronto. Put your yellow DME tags on your bags at home and once you check them in at Pearson you won't see them again until DME delivers them to your room (about 3 - 4 hours after your flight lands). Make sure you bring a days worth of clothes in your carry-ons just incase AC decides to route your bags through another country for fun :rotfl:

Disney does offer a Resort Airline Check-in service when departing WDW for participating airlines...AC is not a participating airline. Instead, you will bring your luggage with you when you take the DME back to the airport. Their will be an envelope from DME attached to your hotel room door the day before you leave letting you know what time DME will be picking you up and what time you should be down at the transport area waiting for them.

Have a great trip!
