And not a moment too soon ... was able to book roundtrip airfare betwee Toronto and Vancouver for our August DCL Alaska cruise for about $200 pp less than the "base fares" quoted yesterday. I've been stalked those fares daily since last August, and this is the first time they've been "on sale". (Well, the Executive class went on sale a few weeks back, but the prices were still more than I was willing to pay.)

We did opt to pay for the "preferred seats" instead of the "standard" seats when doing our seat selections. (For those who followed one of my earlier posts, we have definitely decided to drive to-from Toronto as, even with the discount, flying from home via Toronto was more than double than what we paid for just the YYZ-YVR legs.)

I think today was the first day of the sale. I also think Westjet might be running a parallel sale of their own.

and once again Air Canadas' offer is only for our fine friends in eastern Canada. (sorry...for us westerners, AC rarely has offers like this for us....if you are talking about their 30% off summer sale). It would be nice as I would book far more trips with them if they did. However, because their fares suck from Edmonton, I usually rely on our neighbours to the south for air travel.

If you can take advantage of their deals, hope you find something good!

I understand your frustration, the 30% off summer sale promo code just mimicks Porter Airlines flight destinations ... it's only purpose is to try and lure current Porter customers (back) to AC and Porter currenlty only does short haul flights in eastern Canada/US. (I got excited about this when it came out a week or so ago, then realized it wouldn't help me get to Vancouver).

The 3-day sale prices I got actually come up if you just choose your airports and dates regularly. (In other words, if you haven't been stalking flights you might not know that you are getting a "deal".) There is a link specifically for "3 Day Canada Sale" on the main AC site.

ChrisJo .... Westjet needs to step up to the plate. Here Porter has been doing this 30% think all the time ... too bad they didn't fly to MCO :)

Chris Jo: Which US airline do you fly with from Edmonton? and do you fly out of Edmonton airport? I live in Edmonton and would be interested in knowing about some cheaper fare options for future US air travel :goodvibes

I have had incredibly luck lately with continental, and they are larger planes too, very similar to the Air Canada planes, with tv's at every seat. I have to consider the price of bags as well, but even with the price of checked bags, our flight to Orlando coming up with Continental was only $407...AC was well over $500 for the same dates. Someone on these boards just got a direct flight from Edmonton on a red eye on WJ, and their flight was comparable to ours in price. I haven't been that lucky yet, but we would take up that offer if we could get it. Our flights on Continental are great. We have our change over in Houston, and are only grounded for an hour, both ways, with arrival time in Orlando decent (4:30ish) and our departure date time is the late afternoon from Orlando.

Sounds good :goodvibes will have to keep it in mind for future. Is that flight leaving from Edmonton? It could have been us with the west jet flight, ours was a red eye direct in Feb. Only $199 each way. That was a re- booked fare, in August I had originally gotten a great fare of $177 each way but when we had to re-schedule, we couldn't find that great a price again. I was happy to fly direct on West Jet right from Edmonton though, it was worth the extra $20.00 to fly from our home airport instead of driving to Calgary (which is what we had booked in the summer!) :goodvibes

:laughing: And I get upset when I see the fares from Calgary, this sale has Calgary - MCO for $300 something, and from Vancouver it's in the $500's :sad2: Why so much cheaper from Calgary :confused3

Oh well, I just suck it up and fly from Seattle.
