Aidan's wish trip to Tink's home 3/1-3/7

Im so glad Aidan is feeling better and will be keeping Keegan in my thoughts tomorrow. I love that carry-on do you mind me asking where you ordered it from??

I ordered them from Ebags.com They are $34.99 right now and come in 5 different colors. I had looked and looked for a bag that would suit our needs, and I think that these are going to be great. There are more pictures on the Ebags site, including the back and inside. Just search for CIAO! and it's the Wheeled Under the Seat Bag.

Hi Miranda!!

I love that bag too...hmmm, might just have to get us one of those!!

So, wishing you LOTS and LOTS of luck tomorrow. I HATE the waiting. Its awful. They just shouldn't do that to parents.

Keep us posted...please!! Hoping for all good news!! Hang in there!!!

I think I am "officially" subscribed this time, so hopefully I don't lose you again! Off to go catch up now...

Congrats on dates, but oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to read about Keegan! I can't imagine how scared you must be right now...:hug:

Thanks, Kelly. Today's test went well. I don't know the results. I got a CD of the images, but I don't guess I 'speak' CT Scans. :confused3 But Peyton does have his appointment in the morning with the pediatrician, so I am going to ask her about it. I wanted to talk about it without Keegan there anyway. I'll update after the appointment.

We got another bit of good news today. Aidan was accepted for the Littlest Heroes Project. :sunny: We have turned in our photographer preferences, and are waiting to hear back from them.

I also talked to Aidan's wish coordinator today. Aidan's birthday is coming up on February 14, and I have no idea when they are doing his reveal party. So, I called to ask, and she said that he still hasn't been assigned a sponsor, so they don't have any plans yet. I told her I was going to go ahead and plan his birthday for the weekend of the 13-14 and she said that would be fine. She said they would work around it. So, I'm guessing that we won't have a reveal until at least the weekend of the 20-21. :scared1: Talk about cutting it close!

Actually, she just called back to ask about T-shirt sizes and other things, so I guess they are working on it now. Can't wait to hear when it will be!

So, that's our update for today. I hope to have even better news tomorrow!

So glad the tests went good today. I know the waiting has got to be the tough part
Does your chapter do a sponser for all families?? The reveal party sounds pretty fun cant wait to hear about it.

 I'm praying for good news on the CT scan.

Thanks, guys! Turns out that today brought good news and tons of relief! The doctor that ordered the CT scan was not in today, so they still want him to review the results, but I did talk to the nurse. She said that the scan appears "mostly normal" and that there doesn't seem to be "anything obvious that [we] should worry about". :woohoo::yay::woohoo: Dr. S will be in Saturday morning and will look it over then, but it seems that we are in the clear. They suspect now that Keegan has cyclic vomiting or an ulcer. They are starting him on Zantac to see if that helps. More testing may be needed, but at least we feel pretty sure that it isn't a tumor.

Now I can really put my heart into planning our trip again. I'll be posting our rough draft itinerary and ADR's soon. But probably not tonight. After a week of pure stress, I'm sure I'll sleep like a baby tonight.

Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers! It appears that they helped. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Does your chapter do a sponser for all families?? The reveal party sounds pretty fun cant wait to hear about it.

Yes, our chapter matches every wish family up with a sponsor. The sponsors are people, schools, organizations, or businesses that have donated at least $5000 to the chapter. Once matched, the sponsor has the option of participating in the reveal party or not. If they choose to participate, they have some say in how it happens. For instance, if it is a business, the reveal might take place in that business. If it is a school, the school might have a special 'ceremony' for the wish child. But whatever they plan to do is a secret to the entire wish family until the day that it happens. We will know a date and place, but nothing else. It'll be fun to see how it all plays out.

We have a family that we got in touch with through the MAW Facebook page. They were sponsored by the Great American Home Store. They had to tell their wish child that they were going shopping for furniture. When they showed up at the store, there was a magician doing a show for the kids while their parents 'shopped'. He pulled the wish kid's name out of his magic hat and asked him to participate in the show. Then, our local basketball team's mascot showed up. The mascot lead him around the furniture store on a 'treasure hunt'. Each clue led to another clue, and each clue was accompanied by a prize. The final clue revealed that his wish was being granted. It was all pretty neat. But that's just one scenario. You never know what is going to happen at the reveal party. It all depends on the sponsor you get and how much they want to put into it. Needless to say, that will be a day with lots of pictures.

Okay, this was a really long answer to a really simple question. If you all haven't noticed, I'm a little long-winded. I really don't intend to write a novel each time.

Hi Miranda..................so relieved to hear your great news. What a weight off your shoulders huh? Now..............onto the fun stuff:cool1:

What a wonderful idea...............the sponsers and the reveal parties. I wanna go out and do this kind of stuff for people! Just another way to make it alittle extra special.

Hey, aren't you trying to add a bit of a tinkerbell theme to this trip? Sometimes I start getting everyone all confused but the title of this ptr makes me think I'm right. You do know about "waking up Tink" don't you???????

Definitely a HUGE weight off our shoulders. It seems as if we've been holding our breath for a week and can finally breathe again. I'm usually pretty level headed with the medical stuff, but I was panicking a bit this week. But yes, now onto the fun stuff!

It does seem to add a little bit to it. The hard part about the reveal party is that you can't let any of the kids know anything about the trip before the party. It is so hard to be planning my part of it without giving it away to the kids. But I'm sure it will be a blast. And Aidan will be so surprised!

Yes, we are trying to put a Tinker Bell spin on our trip. Aidan's actual wish was to go to Tinker Bell's home, which he later defined as Disney. I've heard of waking up Tink, but I don't know anything else about it. Care to enlighten me? :tink:

.

Oh Miranda, I am so glad Keegan's CT didnt show anything serious. I was worried along with you. I cant imagine what a relief it is for you.
The reveal sounds amazing but that would be soo hard to keep it from the kids. They are going to be so thrilled.

We don't get much snow in Tennessee, but the boys were on :cloud9: today. Thought I'd share a picture.

Most of you are probably wondering why we are doing the Disney Parks during the last part of our trip. This is for a couple of reasons. 1) I don't want the kids to go to Magic Kingdom early in our trip and then feel disappointed the rest of the trip and 2) We are working on something for the 3rd, and I can't say how, but Universal Studios has a part in that. So, we're using our two Universal days for the 2nd and 3rd.

Any suggestions on the missing meals or something I might be forgetting? I'm open to tips from the pros.

I think it looks great! I was thinking the same thing about doing the Disney parks last but then I started to wonder if maybe they would be dissapointed with the rides at Disney after doing US rides. :confused3 Then I decided it dosent matter were going to have a blast either way! I cant wait to hear about the surprise.

Hi Miranda...

I have only read about 'waking up Tink' here on the boards. My understanding is that it takes two forms. Either get there first thing in the morning and wake her up. Or she can be summoned throughout the day. Apparently you just go into Tinker Bell's Fairy Treasures in Fantasyland and ask the CM. You/your child ring a bell and call her name and you can watch her as she 'flies around the room' (fiberoptics) or across a screen (I've seen it described both ways) and then you are sprinkled with pixie dust. Sounds cute. Lots of people seem to have positive things to say about it. I just wanted to let you know since Tink was a major player for you guys:)

As far as worrying that other parks would be a bummer after the Disney ones. I really wouldn't. There's more than enough wonder to be had at the other parks. I honestly think the kids don't compare as much as we think they might. The parents? yes................the kids? no :rotfl:

Hi Miranda!

We are in Nashville! I can not get over the snow we got here!

I am so glad to hear the news was good for Keegan.

Can't wait to hear more!

:cool1: I see your at the 1 month mark on your ticker!!

We got a total of about 10 inches. It was so much fun! We live in West Tennessee, close to Memphis, and we don't usually get a lot of winter weather. Last year, we got one good snow, but Aidan was in the hospital, so he and I didn't get to enjoy it. Although, Keegan was so sweet. He brought a Sonic cup full of snow up to the hospital room so that Aidan could at least touch it. :goodvibes But we were very glad to be home this year and be able to play in it. We played from morning until night. We'd play for a little bit, go back in to warm up, and go back out. The kids really enjoyed it. And honestly, I did too. It's so much fun to relive things through your children's eyes. They are saying it won't start to melt until at least Monday, so we plan to have more fun between now and then. :woohoo:
