Ahoy November 12th, 2009 Cruisers!!

Whooo hooo we are going to have a blast! So is everyone bringing down their coolers for the meet? If so you can add us to the list.

I don't know if we'll be toting our cooler along but Laura and I will certainly be there drinks in hand! :thumbsup2 I'm having a funny feeling that Harmony, Sue and Wendy will be doing the same! :lmao:

FYI...we'll probably be hanging at the Radisson pool in the afternoon and then we'll be going to Fishlips for dinner. If you've never been, Fishlips is a nice bar/restaurant right on the canal leading to the ocean! :) It's nice seeing the cruise ships go by.

Mike

Sounds good to me. I still have my Disney drink glasses from last time, I will mix them up and bring them down :lmao:

We are not bringing a cooler but we will definitely have drinks in hand!!

I have my drink glasses at home, but it doesn't hurt to have more to add to the set...lol.

I really hope 2yo ds likes Flounders this time. He was ready for a nap last time so he got really cranky and wanted to come out. We didn't get much time without the kids. Just that one night Sue and I snuck out with Sharkbait to check out the bar.

We will be hanging out at the pool at the Radisson for some of the day. I want to go check out the beach for a while too. Not sure about dinner plans. We will probably just wing it...see what we are in the mood for when we get hungry.

3:00 at the Goofy pool! We will be there! And we have to remember to take pics this time! LOL

I'll be there, but probably with kids in tow... my gilrs are fish and are already eyeing up the pools. I can be the official babysitter :rotfl: as I don't do alcohol. Nothing against it, just never liked the taste too much and being the sole responsibility of my girls, my dh would kill me :scared1: I am a newbie to the ship so if you see me aimlessly walking around trying to find ya, grab me!

Everyone bring their kids...that way they get to know each other! At our meet in Feb. my son Michael got to know Tracey's son Nick and Annette's son Michael. :thumbsup2 They all jumped in the pool and hung out :).

FYI...When we went on our 7 day in June I brought along a small "wheeled" cooler (got it in Walmart), filled it with 24 cans and 3 bottles of wine for Laurie, it worked out great!:cool1: On the plane ride down we packed it like a carry-on and then we unloaded the stuff into our luggage to use it as our cooler. Just can't pack it with ice to bring it on the ship! I'm doing the same this time for sure! So convenient!

So is there any specific way we want to identify each other for the meet at the terminal, at the Radisson? Last cruise they did lime green pin on ribbons, have seen lime green rubber bracelets and some girls did lime green toenail polish! lol. In Feb. we did nothing and found each other by posting pictures of the day before the cruise and we ended up identifying each other by the pictures!

Mike

Mike,

It's funny you should say that I thought about this yesterday. I thought about ordering us some lime green "Livestrong" bracelet with something printed on it like "Got Dis?" They are $1.80 a piece. Is this something everyone would be interested in? I would be happy to order them and mail them out.

Lynn

That would be great Lynn! :thumbsup2 If we don't do the Livestrong ones does anyone know if they sell them in the dollar stores?

I haven't posted anything in awhile, but I keep reading it all. I don't even know what all of the abbreviations mean, but that's OK. My family is in for meeting at the Goofy pool, we will have a cooler with us, dinner the night before if still trying to do that, green wrist bands work for me. We are definitely staying at Ron Jon's resort, $89 for studio, we have memories there - gotta go back. Cheapest car rental I found for 11/11-11/19 is with Enterprise $193. free parking at RonJon's.

Mike, I don't know...I was in the Dollar General earlier and didn't see any could be because I wasn't looking in the right place? I mean the Livestrong type, ya know the silicon ones. You can order them in bulk and personalize them if everyone wants to do that.

Hello All!
We will be in for the meet at 3p by the Goofy pool. Amy, you aren't the only one not "partaking". Our "cold ones" will just be a different variety!
We are also planning on hanging out at the Radisson pool the afternoon before we sail and would love to meet up for dinner. We have only stayed at WDW before cruising so this will all be new to us. The lime green bracelets sound like a great idea!:thumbsup2 Posting pictures may not be such a bad idea either;)
DCL rookie-there is an actual list of abreviations ( I have had to refer to it many times!)

I don't think I've checked in here yet . . .
We will be joining all of you on the Nov. 12, 3-night.
We are doing the bounce back, we were originally on the 2/19/09 western.

There is me (Stacie, 40), DH (Doug, 45), DD12 and DS10.

We'll be staying at AKLV for 2 nights before the cruise, and coming home the day we disembark.

I just booked a room at Comfort Suites so we can use the water features at Atlantis. We've been to Nassau a few times, but have never had full access at Atlantis; I figure the kids are the perfect age for it now.

This will be a nice hold-us-over trip. We'll be back on the Magic for the 2/20/10 western.

Can't wait to see you!

Welcome Stacie... there are several of us doing Comfort Suites.... guess we wont' get lost, or maybe we will all get lost together, haha.... Wow, wish I could take my kids out of school twice. How do you swing that one???? Welcome!

Thanks. The Comfort Suites thing seems popular - it should be fun. Have you done it before?

My kids will miss 2 days for the Nov. cruise (we're flying Tues after school, they have Weds. off, they'll miss Thurs & Fri). They have a vacation week in February, so the most they'll miss then is 1 day, depending on what time we fly out.

Hi Stacie! Welcome to our crew! I have a DS that will be 10 in a few weeks and he will be thrilled to have another guy to hang out with! He is really looking forward to seeing Nick and Mikey from Feb.'s trip too!

Wish our school did that... thats great! Our school districts in our area(all of them, even though my kids go to a catholic one) have no weeks off except over Christmas. Even Easter is just Friday and Monday. My girls will actually miss 6 days for our November trip(as we are going to WDW/SW and Discovery Cove too). Since it is the full week before Thanksgiving, it works out great as they can make the work up over Thanksgiving break. My husband is probably happy we don't have other breaks, as I would make him tag along too(he is a teachers) That is how I started taking these trips without him as the only other times we could go to Disney were summer or Christmas.

No I haven't done the Comfort Suites but am looking forward to spending the day at Atlantis. My girls love the beach and swimming and I just love ANYTHING that has to do with vacation. My family is always joking that VACATION should be my middle name :)

HI everyone!

Getting more and more excited every day! 110 days!

The green bands sound great to me..just let me know what we decide on. I'm up for anything at this point...just make it get here faster!

My dd will only be out of school for 3 days. The last trip was 6 days..which was difficult because we had just pulled her out for 5 days in October. Luckily, she is an excellent student, so the teacher had no problem with her going. She had a few assignments to do, but she actually completed them before we left. She even made a scrapbook of the trip to show her class.
The teachers in the school really believe that family time is important, but I think if she was behind in class, it would be a different story.

I think with this trip, I will have the same goal...I would be happy just trying the drink of the day and collecting the glasses. I seriously don't want to spend anytime face down on the beach...LOL...(ahem...Sue...)

We are staying on the ship for the stop in Nassau. And we are doing the bike ride thru Castaway Cay. There is a really cool scavenger hunt for CC that we want to try. They said it's an excellent way to explore the whole island and only takes about an hour...depending on fast you want to travel on bike. It can be done on foot too, but I do want to lay on the beach for a few hours...lol.

Did you hear that they have photopass on the ship now?? For a mere...$399!! I think it's totally ridiculous...
I did hear that for a 3 night it's only $299...still crazy!

$299 for a 3 day???? :scared1: I guarantee we won't be doing this.

As far as the green bands go I am going to place an order for the customized one's for DH and I on 8/14. I am going to have them printed with: "Got Dis? Disney Wonder 11/12/09" If anyone wants to order them PM me and I will add you to the list. I will need to number of bands wanted and the address you want them mailed to when I rcv them.

They take 4-6 weeks to rcv so I should have them by the beginning of October (at the latest) and can mail them out to anyone who orders with plenty of time before our cruise departs. :thumbsup2

Thanks Lynn! I sent u a message thru FB..

110 days?! Woot! We're getting closer to the two digit mark every day!

Lynn - LOVE the lime green bands! These will be great!

And I really like Mike's idea of everyone posting a pic before we leave. That will help a LOT!

Our excitement grows every day!

I'll take 3 bracelets too. :)

Our school won't give out any work before hand... although each year the teachers have given a few things which we usually do on the plane. Will be interesting this year as we were suppose to be going on the 7 day DCL cruise with several other families. The ratio of kids though ended up 14 boys to 4 girls and Kenzey was the only one in the under 8 catagory. When I called disney they said, my oldest could move down, but she could not move up. Thinking about her being left out all week made me rethink the whole idea. We also still wanted our WDW fix, thus we are dipping our toes in the cruise, will also have WDW and SW/Discovery Cove. Anyhow, my dd's class(the oldest in 4th grade) will have HALF her class out for the week of Nov 16th. 12 kids in the class, only 6 will remain... so hopefully she will do alot of review that week. Will be interesting though as of last year we had to start filling out a form for vacations..... just wait till they see that about 15% of the school(just a private catholic school grade K-8) will be gone that week. :sad2: Could get interesting!!!

The bike on CC sounds like fun. Maybe I will look into that too.. especially for the earlier in the day hours.

That is crazy for the photopass.... although I am going to have to spend $200 at Discovery Cove for all their picture package. It does include a video of your dolphin swim, something I am sure we will treasure forever.
