Went to Sea World today. I don't know if I am supposed to report this or not.....
It was nice there. When we got there, there was about 100 police cars coming out of the parking lot with their sirens on. We were thinking Shamu had got stolen or something!! We asked at the booth, and it was "Shop with a cop" day. Kids got to have breakfast with an officer at SWorld, then go shopping with a cop.
We found the shows to be really neat.
Rides, not so much.
We got STUCK on the Ride to Atlantis. We were in the bottom of the ride in the tunnel for over 5 minutes. My son was freaking out!! It was bad!
Then we went on the River Ride whatever it is called. We got soaked. Totally and completely soaked. It was bad!! We had we jeans on for hours, and it was so cold. Not Grizzly River Run wet, but completely soaked. Not fun.

We had lunch at the smoke shack. It was over $50, and that was with kids meals. And the food was not good.
Service-Okay. Cleanliness-okay.

The kids really liked the sharks, dolphins, and of course Shamu. The play area, Shamus Happy Harbour, was really fun for the kids. They enjoyed that.

It was fun, and neat to see something different, but we are good for about 10 years now!

Sw reports are just fine....we are very flexible here on the DL boards ! National parks,Vegas,San Fransisco....we like it all !

Thanks for the report. We may hit SW in a couple weeks when we are back in San Diego. I haven't been since I was a kid, so I would like to see it, but my 5 year old would rather go see the pandas at the zoo, so that may win out!

It sounds like you are having a great trip!

Just wondering how long it took you to get food at SeaWorld?! When we went there last year we waited, and this is no joke, in line for over an hour - in a queue which winded through half of the park. It was during August and the park was quite busy but never in my life have I waited so long for food at a theme park. And we left early as we were obviously staying in Anaheim and had only had a few small snacks in the car on the way down. I think the main reason why we had to wait so long was due to the fact that they only have a few food outlets in the park?! And I think only a couple were open!! It was absolutely ridiculous!! Although I enjoyed my time at SeaWorld, having to wait for that long for food which wasn't all that (I distinctly remember throwing a large sum of it away due to it not being very nice and the fact that there were flies landing on it on the patio where we had to fight for seats outside) was not the highlight of my day.

I was extremely disappointed with SeaWorld San Diego. Having visited SeaWorld Orlando several times and loving it there, I was expecting a lot more.

And we had the exact same experience on the River Ride. We were in a boat with two American women and their teen kids and when we entered the cave section of the ride and saw the waterfall approaching fast, we were wondering when or if (no, it has to go off we were all saying to each other - we would literally be drenched if it were to stay on) it was going to go off - or at least run a little slower. But no, our boat passed under the waterfall and the water covered us all. There was no seat in the boat where the water didn't touch you. We ALL got off literally soaked. And I mean SOAKED!!! None of us could believe it. It was as if we had each just had 50 buckets of water thrown over us. Every part of all of us was dripping wet. I had jeans on too (as did a couple of the others in our boat) and I had the most uncomfortable journey back to Anaheim e-v-e-r!!! The car seat was soo wet when I finally got out in the hotel car park. I literally ran (as fast as I could considering I had wet - now kind of dry - jeans on) to my room and showered and changed!! Yes, it was hot and we all wanted to cool down but that was a little extreme. And the park having only a few rides (lord knows what it was like before Journey to Atlantis opened up - I would have freaked too if we had of stopped on it like you did) the queue was nearly two hours long. God only knows why we even entered it. Moment of madness would be an understatement.

Had to add my two cents. I was soooo worked up that day. If I half half as bad an experience on next summers trip I will definitely be requesting to speak to someone with a bit of authority. Enjoying reading your trip reports though. ;)

We walked up to the door of the Smoke restaurant place at 10:55. They said, we aren't opening until 11:00. So we got in line, (the first in line). Then a few others showed up and were wondering around. The doors finally open at about 11:07. And they open the door that we are not standing at! So a few other people got in ahead of us, after we were waiting!
Not Disneyland is all I can say!!

Sorry to hear such a not-so-good report on SW. I haven't been there in ages, probably the last time was before the 2000's. Every so often, I'd see a customer come in my store dressed in a orange vest, white shirt and black bow tie. He works at SW and tells me how much I need to check out the new additions to the park. He's a very sweet guy and I told him I'd try and make it, but haven't had the chance yet. I can't get in free like I do at DL, and I really can't afford the extra costs of things right now.

It was interesting, and the shows are amazing. Still find it hard to believe that humans and animals can communicate like that!
It is a fun place to spend a day.
If it wasn't so far from DL and so expensive, it would be even better!
