I am sick and tired of people telling me, "Why are you going to WDW AGAIN????" It's none of their business!! I don't roll my eyes when people tell me they go to their cottages every weekend. People have even told me that we're "pathetic" to want to go back.

Anyone have any tips on answers or retorts I can give to these people who don't understand my love of Disney? Thanks Disney fans!

We hear that all the time!
I tell people it is a good thing they are staying home, because people who don't like Disney shouldn't go. Less lines and crowds if they keep their sorry butts at home! LOL! :p

Seriously though, don't let them bother you. If the "magic" moves you...go as often as possible. It is a place of dreams and if it makes you feel good to be there, go! Life is about being happy and some people just don't see that. They only see crowds, rides, lines, and money being spent.
To us...it is all worth it.

You don't need to answer to them. It is the people who don't love it that freak me out! ;)

I get the same thing, I just think they are jealous!!

I would just say that your family really enjoys WDW vacations. Hmmmm imagine that ppl going somewhere they like to go and having a good time! Some ppl going skiing every yr, whats the big deal?? I'm sure no one asks them why they keep going back.
Those are ppl who just dont get it. Sorry some ppl just engage their mouth before their brain. Hope you have many more wonderful Disney vacations!! I plan to.

My answer ('cause I hear this over and over from family, friends, co-workers, etc.) -- I'm a Disney-addict, proud of it and not looking for a cure!

It doesn't matter where I go on vacation, people always say, you're going to Disney again. I took a cruise in April (RCI) and most everyone that I know thought I was going on Disney. I just think it's funny that they think I'm a little nuts (maybe that does make me a nuts :)
Going to Disney in Oct. but havn't mentioned it at work yet though.

Ha-Ha It really is sad, but true... have you ever heard anyone say "Oh, so you are going to your lakefront cabin again..." But as soon as you mention Disney SOME PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT! So many times I have tried to explain to people how amazing a WDW trip is... all the wonderful things you can do. How you could go & not even bother with renting a car if you didn't want to, etc. - But nothing seems to work.

Sounds like Eeyore1954's suggestion may be the way to go! (an addict not looking for a cure).

I don't know about you CJK, but imagine the looks my DH and I get... we don't even have kids!

I used to go every year before I had my first child! (Now I have 5 children and I am taking my first trip back there in 10 years! YEAH!!!) People use to roll their eyes at me. Pity them instead of letting them aggravate you! It is much more fun to have the heart of a child then to take life too seriously!:jester:

Life is an Adventure!

Thank you!!! I just can't thank you all enough. I'm feeling much better - and even a little silly for letting it get to me! Disney fans unite!!! :) :D :D

OMG!!!! We get this all the time! Just look at my signature and you will see all the times we went.

I get SO SICK OF HEARING IT TOO. "Ya'll are going to Disney again????" "WHY"?? "Why dont ya'll go somewhere else" BLAH BLAH BLAH.

First of all, we dont wanna go nowhere else. We have been to Vegas, it was ok...we lose too much money.

2nd, we dont do beaches and cruises, we would be BORED to death.

3rd, CAUSE IT IS OUR MONEY AND YOU DONT PAY OUR BILLS!!!
That is what we tell our family/friends when they run their mouths about us and our Disney trips.

We dont have any kids, and with work and taking care of our disabled parents, we have a stressful life and Disney takes care of that stress for a while.

JUST IGNORE THEM. :) I have learned that by now.

From now on, Im gonna tell my family/friends this when they say ---"WHY ARE YA'LL GOING AGAIN TO WDW"?

my answer--

"TO GET AWAY FROM YOU PEOPLE!!!!!'

:) :D

I don't have any clever retorts (please let me let me know if you think of some) ... I just tell them its 'The Happiest Place on Earth'. One person at work is always badgering me about the commercialization of Disney ... I've learned to ignore him.

I did not get to Disney until I was in my mid 40's when we took our children then agesd 12,10 and7,
It was something we always dreamed about but thought we'd never manage. Since going the first time we have had one non disney holiday (a beach holiday in Spain), we were totally bored!

We are now coming back to Disney in May 2003 (our 3rd visit) and are already counting down the Minutes / seconds

The whole family is totally addicted and cannot wait to return

We get this too. We are about to take our 4th trip in 8 years - not exactly obsessed IMHO. Some people act like we are out of our minds.

Then others seem to act like we are only going because they have planned a trip and somehow our going will ruin the uniquiness to their trip.

Like many of you have said, I know lots of people who go to the beach 2-3 times every summer! Or to the mountains annually. I don't tell them they are nuts!

BUT! Why am I always the one they all call when they want to go and need some advice?

BamaTigger - I have a few things to say to you!
1 - Glad to see someone else from Alabama on these boards, I don't seem to notice too many.
2 - You are 6 hours away and I am 10.5, so you must be in South Alabama.
3 - Since your name is BAMA Tigger, I will go ahead and think that you are highly intelligent and I will give you that wonderful cry:
"ROLL TIDE!"

Me and DH went to WDW for our honeymoon......and we have gone every year for our anniversary...will be back in Sept to celebrate our 4 years married!!! :) And people ASK ALL THE TIME WHY GO BACK TO WDW??? I never say that to anyone going down the cape (for those from MA) or again to the lake or where ever people go.....OR I get the question...WHY GO, YOU DON'T HAVE KIDS YET......I get those questions everytime....I just smile and say we love WDW, we relax and have fun....and we love that mouse!!! :)

I hear this all the time... Ijust tell them that WDW is my "Magic Place", the place to go away from all my worries and cares. They don't see it but hey I don't care.

Actually most people I work with just think it is too funny. They cut out pictures of anything disney or if anything comes over the fax about those disney trips they automatically bring them to me because they just know they belong to me (even though they don't).

My dh and I tell people that when we 100 years old we will be at the MK with our walkers but we will be there.

We will be there in Dec. taking our twin grandbabies for their first trip and can't wait to introduce them to the "Magic", the just turned 3 on Aug. 17th so it should be very interesting.

Our family even goes as far as to tell us what else we should be spending all that "extra money" on!! Excuse Me???
I'll take making memories with my family over an addition to my house anyday! Our kids will only be little for so long, and I have the rest of my life (God Willing) to do meaningless things like that.
We want our children to have as "Magical" a childhood as possible.
Don't even talk about friends
We finally convinced some friends of ours to take a trip with us, thinking we could enlighten them to the magic.First thing we took them to see Fantasmic! I love this show, pure Disney magic right?
So anyway, we watch the whole show, it's over, and I with tears in my eyes (as always) turn to see their face thinking total shock and amazement...WRONG!! They had this look like,"is it finally over?" WHAT?????? They were not impressed at all!!
I just don't understand it, but for some people there is no magic, how sad:(

Just today a guy said to me "Well, you just go down there so often for the boys..." (Will is 10, Joe is 8).. I replied (as I usually do), that we were renting cheap rooms out on '192' before the boys were born, and will still be using our DVC points after they are off to college... Had to know exactly why, but WDW is just a nice place to go and forget about the old rat marathon.

Hey fellow Alabamian Jackie!!!!!!!!

Hey!! I sent ya a PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I dont do football, but I am into Drag boat racing!!!!

But Im still highly intelligent!! ;):p
LOL

I get this all the time from people I do not know well at work..the ones who know..just accept I am a Disney Fanatic...anyone else who comes up with that stupid remark, why do you go to WDW so often....my reply is ...Because we can....:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I too get it all the time! We do go other places, but not one as fun and varied as WDW. I just tell them, where else can you go and do all the things you can at WDW? Sit on a beach, by a quiet pool, a water park, go on fun rides, faboo shopping & food, great service, etc, etc, etc!
Then again, I am preaching to the choir!
I must admit, Fantasmic doesn't do it for me tho....Now Main Street gives me a tear every time...
